Now that they can serve beer on premises and a food truck in the parking lot, this my GoTo place for beer! | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 joecbkb (1) Greenville, South Carolina | January 10, 2013 My favorite bottle shop (and now Bar) in Greenville. Mike & Ed really know their stuff and are always glad to help you pick out something or share some knowledge on the industry - the rest of the staff is great, too. The selection is as good as it gets in the Upstate and the series of tastings and unique events they stage are fantastic. Now that we have food trucks and TCT can serve on-premise; I don’t think it gets any better! Can’t wait for the first TCT Fest this Spring! | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 chinchill (17) South Carolina | October 31, 2012 Exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful service. Excellent mix of brews on tap: 12 taps. Selection limited to higher quality craft brews.
Plenty of free parking. Soon to sell beer for consumption on premises. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 beerrunner1 (1) South Carolina | May 18, 2012 I’m a big fan of this bottle shop! Every time I stop in it seems like something new and excited has just landed. Some times I want to just browse, and other times I want to pick up some info & education on certain beers or breweries and The Community Tap allows me to do both of these things. Knowledgeable staff, I always seem to have a great convo with either Mike or Ed. Just a great shop! | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 msdins (2) , | May 8, 2012 my favorite store in Greenville. Good selection and a very knowledgeable staff.
| 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Onenote81 (74) Winston-Salem, North Carolina | May 3, 2012 In town visiting friends this last February, and this place (which I have been wanting to visit since it opened) is just down the street from their new house. Hurray for me! Stopped in the first night to grab a growler of something. They had about 10 taps for growler fills (no consumption on premise), all of which were standout beers. We grabbed a growler of Avery Maharajah. A guy and a girl were working at the time. Both were friendly, but not overly helpful. Great selection of bottles here. The Belgian section was what first stood out to me. Those aren’t usually my ’cup of beer,’ but I was impressed with what was available. Great to see a lot of different breweries represented than I can’t find in the Northern Carolina. Prices were decent. And the vibe/presentation was very cool. I will definitely be back to this place when we visit again.
[Side note, if you are visiting and find yourself at this store, make your way across the street to Henry’s Smokehouse for some BBQ. You will not regret it.] | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 JCB (174) Durham, North Carolina | April 30, 2012 Swung by this place on a roadtrip a while back, and was very glad to have made the stop. Tucked away just a few minutes off of 85, it’s located in a quaint looking part of town. Dark wood decor, a bit of breweriana, and a cramped space well organized and well stocked. Righteously friendly staff, and I very much enjoyed my chat over the 15 minutes or so that I was there. Picked up a few nice bottles (like the Westbrook Farmhouse IPA) and sampled a thing or two on tap. If I’m ever in Greenville again (or on my way to Atlanta) I’ll gladly stop in. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 kimmiebtp (1) greenville, South Carolina | June 18, 2011 Love these guys! They always point me in the right direction. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 MagentaJuice (1) , | May 17, 2011 I really love this place. It’s small but has a good selection, with staff that remembers your name if you are a regular. They really know their products.
They have really wonderful and inexpensive tastings for beer and wine and a well selected growler station.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s two minutes from my house, and I find that their prices are comparable (and sometimes cheaper) than grocery stores that carry the same thing. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | March 14, 2011 This place is awesome and it is so good to see a real beer store in Greenville. I was reminded of The Beer Growler in Athens which I visited the day before. The Community Tap is also a sparse, efficient dedicated beer store though they had a bit more interesting of a selection. Some rarities from Thomas Creek, Mikkeller and miscellaneous good Belgian breweries spice up the options, but there aren’t so many beers that it’s overwhelming or rotation of stock appears to be an issue. There are actually 9 taps including one of their own beers, an IPA, which is brewed specifically for them by Thomas Creek and tastes really good. Prices on most things are right in line for the SC market, i.e. cheaper than I’m used to paying in TN or NC. The Community Tap is one of the more excellent beer stores I have visited in a while. |
