72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20
Visited May 31, 2014.
First beer stop of the day after wandering around taking some pictures. For the start of Philly beer week they were doing a Victory beer brunch. Got to try the Swing ("sessionable saison") and some cask DirtWolf. This is a neat place. Itís an old looking building, like much of the city, that uses that vibe to itís advantage. Unfortunately the service was painfully slow. They had a pretty decent tap list and the food looked good but since it took so long to get beer I didnít bother ordering food.
Iíd like to spend some more time wandering around that part of the city so if I get back Iíd consider maybe eating something here but then again Tria is right across the street (not sure how I missed that on my trip). Looking at my pictures I missed the fact that they had 2007 Gales Prize Old Ale in the bottle as well as the new Courage RIS. Oh, and they had the wimpyjoe special: Timothy Tailor Landlord Pale Ale!

A good selection of beers with some UK casks available as well. Bottled selection is nice, too. Food is quirky and fancy, great burgers and really good fish and chips. Lots of other fine british choices served very nice. Prices can escalate with food, beer, and desert or appetizers, though.

Enjoyable and warming pub with the kind of dark ambiance youíd expect. Blessedly unpretentious even though focused on quality and conscientious selection of menu offerings. Nice list of taps and bottles, with plenty of rotating selections (most local) and a nice trio of cask offerings that turns over a couple times a week. Very convivial, great service, nice food too.

Despite the not very masculine name, this is a very cool pub. 3 levels, very casual feel and 3 casks. We had apps that were very tasty. Ambiance is casual and the decor is authentic. Beer selection (taps) was limited but the casks were in top shape.

The Dandelion pub is the best place to go for British fare. A pint of bitter and traditional bangers and mash. They offer a few beers on hand pump and a nice selection on tap. The place looks amazing and it feels like an english pub.

Dandelion Pub is supposed to be an authentic British pub - I canít speak for its authenticity but it is a fun place to hang out and get a good beer and good food regardless.
Very nicely decorated on the inside with mismatched antique looking furniture and nice fireplaces. Each floor has a few nooks so you donít feel on top of other parties while you eat. The food is very tasty. Iíve personally had the roast beef sandwich and possible the best fish ín chips Iíve ever eaten. Possibly a tad pricey but this is really more of a good restaurant with beer than it is a beer bar.
Beer selection is good but certainly unremarkable in Philly. The three rotating authentic British casks always on tap are a nice plus but thereís nothing super rare here.

Excellent beer selection with several names I have never heard of or tried. A rotation of three beers on cask. Drawback -very pricey. A pint will run you $9 or more. Read more about our visit below.
