I disagree totally with Hergee, I think that he never has been at The Drunk Monk, if not he would not say what he says, it’s not dark, neither loudy and shure not dusty. They have the best beer menu in Spain and sure much better than most of belgian beer cafés. Their draught beer is really good, yes Chimay, but today they have Rogue Double dead Guy, Nogne Single Hop Citra, Slaapmutske single hop Kent Goldings, Belgoo Luppoo, De Struise Pannepot...is that bad?? I’ve been in many beer cafés not only in Spain but also in Belgium and I know for sure that this one is one of the best. Ah! the tap selection is 7 beers, not 5 or 6.

I had high expectations about this place for what I read from reviews that make this spot as one of the best bar in the world. Unfortunaly I was left totally disappointed after going there. A loud, dark and dusty bar, badly furnished and lighted. The selection on tap is poor and weak. They had 5 or maybe 6, among which a Chimay tripel, a beer that I can easily find even at Edeka. Nothing really interesting on menu, nor a vast lambic selection for a belgian bar standard. If you are lookin for some belgian spot forget this one and go to Kulminator.

Sort of belgian bar settled in Spain. The menu covers all different range of belgian speciality, with some foreign additions. Draught beers could be better.

Amb: Belgian abbey themed pub, with warm ambiance, nice decoration (i.e. pictures of monks and brand merchandising), terrace available (in summer), etc. Serv.: The first of the two "pillars" of Drunk Monk (in my opinion). Nice service, a "walking encyclopedia" (Sven)... feel like home, but surrounded by hundreds of beers. Sel.: The second pillar. A MASSIVE beer list (massive in terms of quantity and quality). I miss some american and national (spanish) beers, but the beer chart is growing constantly. Food: The menu is not very extensive, but they have premium quality belgian cheeses and chocolates. The sandwitches are good (nice beef, pork, etc.) and the nachos amazing, but as I said, I miss more variety. Value: The "two pillars" mentioned before impact in the prize. I find some beers too expensive (specially the scottish ones), but in the end, you always finish with the feeling that they worth the price. Overall: Best beer place I’ve been on, nothing more to say.

a belgian beer bar in mataro owned and operated by a belgian. seems more appropriate in brugge or brussels. classic belgian brown bar interior. simple food menu but exceptional beer selection, with multiple belgian bottles what many would call medium-to-high rareness. vintage beers available as well. rotating drafts of belgian, spanish, danish and german beer. i’m sitting there drinking malvasia rosso and mamouche watching the next table over split a brutal IPA from newport, oregon. fun.

great service, beatifull place, a little bit far from Barcelona, but you can go there by tr\ain, good vintage beers and great belgian beers. On e of the best Gueuze / Lambic selection I’ve seen in a bar.
