Pretty cool outdoor spot with two bars. Regular hours - totally relaxed. During a televised Spurs game - packed. Best tap list of any place in the downtown-ish area. Pretty good stuff on tap including Prairie Noir among the Texas offerings. Like other downtown places, $7 a beer is not an anomaly. Didnít eat there.

Large outdoor place with a front and a back bar, each of which has a different beer selection. Parking is difficult street. Range of beers was extensive for a small to medium sized list, very well chosen. Didnít try the beers. Very, very quiet on a weekday, I would imagine this is a great weekend place. Worth a look for sure.

Outdoor bar. Back bar had really awesome service the night I was there, but the guy in front didnít seem to give a fuck and was in slow motion. Nice taplist, but quite pricey. Food was decent for pseudo-bar food, but portions were small. Iíd have to imagine this place is miserable in the summer, but it was beautiful to sit under the stars on a mild evening. Also, way too many hipsters smoking.

This place is must awesome. In a beautiful neighbourhood, good choice of beer and very cool staff who knows their beer and their pop culture. Fish tacos are very good.

I only base ithis reviw on what I have expeeienced most recenttly. It seems like The Friendly Spot has strayed from itís original vision, a place where the community can converge for a tasty brew. But now it has a sports bar vibe disquised as a faux craft beer spot. I like that it is family friendly still but above that, especially during first Friday, there is really no seating. And in addition one of the main issues I have is there is no way to see what brews are actually there. I feel like I have to squint my eyes to see what is in their coolers. On their website it should update what beers they have and not always Facebook the newest thing. Plus contrary to what people have written the beers are pricey here. Even high~end Flying Saucer has better deals. Why spend ten dollars on a pint and have to stand all night to enjoy it!

This is a cool place. I was able to visit it during a conference in San Antonio. Not a long walk from the downtown/river walk area. Great guys behind the bar. Also amazing tap selection. Was able to try Stoneís Try By IPA. I also ad Saint Arnoldís Bishopís Barrel #3, and it was phenomenal. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is a beer lovers oasis in southern San Antonio!! They have over 75 beers on tap with a lot of local micro representation as well as craft and micro selection from around the nation with a smattering of international love, and of course, they have macros. The atmosphere is a beer garden and very chill with plenty of picnic / backyard style seating and a gravely surface. There are two bars with different tap selections and a ton of bottles and cans. Dog friendly.

Stopped by on a Friday night. Really weird place. A couple of separated, small buildings, with a bunch of chairs, picnic tables, and other patio assortment scattered around the rest of the gravel-topped lot. Feels a bit like something somebody threw together quickly. Since it was a Friday night, a projector was set up among the chairs, and the Spurs game was on. Strange mix of people from seemingly every socioeconomic level, including quite a few children running around. Seating was difficult to find, and overall the service was very unfriendly and pretty dreadful...which was funny given the name of the establishment. Another downside is that a lot of people were smoking, and even though it was outside, the smoke still filled the yard. Good selection of beer, especially for what else I had seen in the area, but the prices are really high. I mainly ordered local stuff and didnít get anything exotic, and none of the pints were less than $7. The food was good. Overall, I donít know how to rate this place. Great selection for the area, cool location, solid food, and overall I really did enjoy myself. However, it was expensive, the service was awful, the smoke was annoying, and there wasnít enough seating. Regardless, worth a stop if you are a visitor in the area.

Had a few during halloween. The tap selection is not great, but ok. But the bottles make up the difference. One of the best places to go within waking distance from the riverwalk.

The Friendly Spot is a nice place on a nice day. If the day is not so nice, as in too hot or raining or too hot... then itís not so nice because most of the seating is outside. The beer selection is nothing spectacular, but it is pretty great for San Antonio and the Southtown area. The draft selections, if not great, are always rotating and feature new and sometimes special releases. Their bottle selection is more thorough and they actually get some stuff you might not expect. They currently serve outta plastic cups only.
