98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 tripel_trouble (7) Houston, Texas | May 24, 2012 The Ginger Man is a fantastic place to spend a few hours drinking some great beer. A large selection of micro brews and a great patio equals an amazing time. You definitely aren’t coming here to eat as they have about 6 items on their food menu, but you stay for their wide variety of beers from all over the world. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 SPDickerman (69) Texas | July 9, 2011 Classic pub-style bar with the dim lights and smell of beer all over the place. The servers are always nice and exceptionally knowledgeable about beer and are always willing to make suggestions if you don’t know what you want. They have many special beers and seasonal, rotating beers, and all beers are fairly priced. I think I’ve had just about every beer on the tap list in all the styles I like. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 TexasHopHead (2) houston, Texas | August 19, 2005 Damn fine seletion of beer (not the biggest) but large and you are likely to find at least half a dozen beers you love. The servers know beer. Fresh beer & clean taps!!!
Not much food but what they do have is good not to mention its a major shopping area with may food options. I love the bar and ambiance but the crowd may seem out of place from time to time. Lots of outdoor seating in front and rear of bar a big plus in my book!
| 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 ttutony (15) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | December 13, 2010 Love this place. Selection is great, service is usually pretty good as well. Knowledgable bartenders. Haven’t ever tried the food. I try to come here whenever I have the chance. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 Kevin (56) Colorado | October 17, 2005 nice laid back underlit bar. but they have a beer garden if it gets too dank for you" but, moe, the dank. the dank"- carl carlson. nice selection, a nice knowledgeable staff. hell even the other customers were cool and the jukebox had some nice tunes rolling too. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 billism (9) Missouri City, Texas | March 31, 2007 Another one of my favorite pubs. Great beer selection, great service every time I have been there (6+), great atmosphere. The waitresses have always been friendly. Great porch in the back, with heaters in teh Winter. A very welcoming place. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Biohazard (3) | July 27, 2008 Fantastic bar with an incredible selection, good service and decent bar food. The beer selection is second to none in Houston, and although busy, the service is relatively quick and friendly, and they have a good memory. You can become a regular after just a couple of visits. Plenty of academics and doctors from Rice and the Texas Medical Center which are virtually next door. Can’t believe it hadn’t been rated already. It’s within walking distance of all of Rice Village so its easy to grab a pint here before or after dinner. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 daniellerose7 (7) new york, New York | December 28, 2007 Love this bar! Great atmosphere (darts...), great beer selection (lots of taps!), pretty cheap, never too crowded. Awesome. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 KUEric (111) Washington, Washington DC | July 13, 2007 This place was great. Had a definite feel to it. Reminded me a little of a smaller Brickskeller (in DC). A diverse set of people, drinking from thier diverse set of taps. They had some locals and some hard finds in Texas (Belgian in particular).
Especially when considering how busy it was, the service was good to great.
| 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 ahmashar (11) Stafford, Texas | January 19, 2009 Great place to go after work if your in the area. While it doesn’t have the same variety of beers as the Flying Saucer (only a few less, but there you go), it does have cask conditioned Elissa IPA, which is phenomenal. Very little food and spotty service (much dependent on who is tending bar) are the only things that mar the experience, though again only marginally. |
