This is one of my favorite beer bars in the city. Its great early on a Sunday when its quiet and you can sit a the bar and talk to the bartenders or wait staff. They have a superb selection served in proper glassware and the staff is very knowledgeable allowing them to make great suggestions that always surprise me. The one downside is the food choices are minimal but this is a place you go for the beer not for the food.

Simply the greatest place to drink beer in Manhattan and Tri-State region. To spend an evening with friends here drinking beers is one of the greatest experiences of your entire life.

A bit too packed on the weekends but given how awesome this place is it is understandable. Definitely grab a grab a couple beers here if you are in the city. Pretzels are delicious and the vibe is awesome.

Please see my Tour Guide Comments at the top of this page. The Ginger Man is a sensational NYC beer bar. About 70 taps. Great ambiance. Excellent, quality Euro beers on tap. The place gets jammed and they used to have yard glasses, which is always a lot of fun! Nice atmosphere - worth visiting! Food consists of snacks, but theyíre upscale.

I didnít try the food, but I know itís there. Excellent beer selection. Almost everything comes in a bottle. The waitress will bring you the glass and bottle and open it for you while you sit at a booth or on one of the sofas or lounge chairs. Nice atomsphere, good music. Layed back crowd. The only downside is itís location.

Unmatched tap selection (70+). Great bottle line up as well. The tap selection is always seasonal and trendy. All bartenders and servers are certified cicerones. The food menu is small, and not necessarily beer friendly. Luckily I work 2 blocks from here. Packed for happy hour, though.

Itís way too crowded after work, but very nice for lunch. The food is minimal (they have one or two decent sandwiches) but the beer is fantastic!

70 beers on tap and 2 cask, an amazing selection. Old school wood bar with a nice relaxed ambience. I heard it gets crazy on weekend, but on a monday afternoon it was very chill. Very knowledgable bartender. If you cant choose a beer, get the sampler of four for 10 dollars, a real deal. A must visit in NYC.

I visited the first weekend of February í08 with my wife. We stopped in on a very rainy Friday afternoon. The bar had a good vibe - a small but chatty lunch crowd provided a good back drop to dry off and try some fantastic pints, including a wonderful cask brown ale. Great tap line up, all fresh that we tried. Food was very good to, some excellent soup, sandwiches, and stew. Solid attentive service. Bottle selection is not really worth noting from what I could tell, not that it mattered with all of these quality taps anyway. Neat looking yards and growlers behind the impressive long bar. It really is all about when you hit these busy downtown places - i could see how it might get packed, but for when we hit there, our first stop on our NYC trip, it was heaven.

One of the better beer bars in the city. Tends to get insanely crowded at night and especially on weekends. Your best bet is lunch during the week if you want to drink and actually have a seat. The prices are really good generally. Some of the bottles were had a bit of a markup. Others were just about the same as retail. Great tap selection. That goes without saying.
