92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 argo0 (206) Washington DC | August 22, 2012 Need you ask? Great selection of beer, just like the Charleston location, perhaps even a bit better. Great taps too, just remember to bring your growler. The staff was helpful when I visited too. A bit pricey, but such is the market these days. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Onenote81 (74) Winston-Salem, North Carolina | May 3, 2012 In town this last February visiting friends, and this was on my "must-stop" list. Stopped in on Saturday afternoon, and we were the only ones there besides the 2 guys working at the time. Both were friendly and helpful. Right when you walk in there is an awesome selection of glassware, which I appreciate as I think I love glassware as much as I love beer. Awesome presentation in the store as the beer is categorized perfectly, and I had no problem finding what I was in the mood for. A stellar Belgian section that carried many bottles that I hadn’t seen anywhere else in the area, or in NC for that matter. They had about a dozen taps at the back for growler fills. They offer 3 different growler sizes, all of which were reasonably priced. Good selection there. Next to that station is a small cooler section with a good amount of chilled bottles, growlers and mini-kegs. A small island in the middle of the store carries a good selection of domestic offerings. Loved this store. Another one I will revisit when back in town. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 beersorcerer (2) tallahassee, Florida | March 30, 2012 Great Place for the location both locally and nationally!
Very Good to Excellent selection for the space. High shelves help the volume of choices but do make grazing difficult for little people.
But that’s where the service staff come in.
Highly knowledgeable and at the ready to help: they’re there to sell but if you steer them to your tastes, they’ll be honest and upfront on the selections.
Overall a great store with great beer for the deep south. Thank you GBX.
| 98 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 pnesbit (1) Marietta, South Carolina | March 12, 2012 Great little store with a great selection. I go there anytime I visit Greenville, which because of this store I wish was more. I would recommend you stop by this store if you find yourself in Greenville. Especially if you find yourself there on a Tuesday or Thursday when they have regular sampling. | 96 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 20/20 mlunger12 (46) Orlando, Florida | March 6, 2012 Stopped by on my way from Chapel Hill down to Atlanta. Great little shop near the downtown area of Greenville. Walls packed, a nice growler station in the back. Packed full of local and regional stuff, COAST, Terrapin, Duck Rabbit, and even a good bit of Drie Fontenin and Cantillon... Even had some 1989 Thomas Hardys. It’s a must stop in Greenville. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 19/20 Drake (394) Ivy, Virginia | February 26, 2012 I went to Charleston Beer Exchange a couple days ago and I think this one is actually better as far as selection goes. Certainly there are more taps but there is more floor space as well, hence, more beer. And the selection is very much world class. The fill growlers and they do bombers of draft stuff here as well. Excellent customer service, prices are on the high side. I think there is a garage across the street. It’s is RIGHT next to Barley’s Taproom and the Trappe Door for a nice little beer-centric corner. | 98 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 20/20 NachlamSie (454) Tennessee | January 2, 2012 Definitely one of the best beer stores I’ve ever patronized. It’s remarkably similar to the Charleston location but even had a slightly more enticing selection on my visits, namely an impressive selection of smoked beers. The sales clerk was outstandingly knowledgable and helpful. On the rare occasion he hadn’t tasted a beer I asked about he straight up told me he hadn’t personally tasted it rather than putting up a facade like I often encounter. I can’t sing the praises enough of the service. Most every beer I looked at was fresh which is a huge plus. I am eager for a return visit. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 bruwery (21) Lowell, Michigan | November 15, 2011 This is a small store, but it really has an absolutely outstanding bottle selection from all over the world. I didn’t notice dust on any of them, so it appears they’re doing a good job of moving the beers they stock.
The prices didn’t seem unreasonable.
The gentleman working in there seemed to know his beer, but didn’t come across as pretentious. If I asked for help, he helped, otherwise he just left me along to browse.
They fill growlers here, too! They had somewhere between 12 and 16 taps up including several seasonal and/or hard to find beers.
I will definitely be back in on my next visit to SC. This store is right in downtown Greenville, just around the corner from a great beer bar called Barley’s Taproom. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 changeup45 (102) Mount Dora, Florida | November 15, 2011 If you’re looking for bottles (or growlers) in the Greenville area then this is the place you need to go. It’s not easy to find though, even with GPS, and if not for the trucks unloading kegs down an ally way then I might still be looking. The organization of this place is top notch. It’s not huge but it’s clean and packed with a very impressive selection of bottles, as well as an extensive growler section. The service was also top notch. I didn’t catch the name of the guy working behind the counter but he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly into the craft beer scene (uh, you’d have to be, right?). We chatted import distributors, ratebeer/beeradvocate, and just beer in general. A must stop if in the area and even a little drive could be justifiable. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 hellbilly (139) scottsdale über alles, Arizona | October 19, 2011| Updated February 27, 2012 stopped in 7/10/2011.
how is this place not on anyone’s radar. best bottle shop i have been to (so far)... it makes bruisin ales look rookie. growlers to go are a plus. |
