It is in the Northeast, but the beer selection, excellent food, good crowd, and great staff make it worth the trip. There are some pretty good events at the Lodge, such as Friday the Firkenteenth, Christmas in July, and Festivus. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Phillies08Champs (22) Phoenixville, Pennsylvania | October 17, 2012 First time here. I walk in the door and the very cute busty bartender says, Hi Sean. I am confused but remember that I just came from Macafferty funeralhome and was discussing the Grey Lodge. I sit down at the wrap around bar. nice vertical folding windows in the front with wood and brick decor. Tap and bottle selection is not huge but very nice. I ordered the hummus (bland) and the fried pickles (very good). I ask for my check and the bartender told me that Marc Mccafferty took care of my bill. I was floored. It was such a nice jesture when I needed one the most. Thanks, Marc. I also loved the GL. I can’t wait to come back for a Friday the Firkenteen. | 76 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 MadIndian (34) Levittown, Pennsylvania | February 12, 2012 First off let me say that I really enjoyed myself at this place.
The food was fantastic and the beers
they had on draft, for me it was Dogfish 120, and Manyuck Monk, were fresh and delicious.
The selection wasn’t huge, but they do continuosly rotate their taps with a great lineup of beers. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BeerBellyZ (10) Pennsylvania | December 14, 2011 Not a huge draft selection (only 10 taps) but you’re bound to find a great beer on tap. Excellent cheesesteak. Friendly staff. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 oOJUXEOo (14) Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania | July 5, 2010 The Grey Lodge is a nice place in Northeast Philly. It’s nice to see a place with a nice beer selection who isn’t in center city. The upstairs bar was closed when I went (Monday), but the first floor bar was a nice mix of locals there for Bud and people there for the good stuff. Had a late lunch, and the food was above average for bar food. Service was great, and beer selection was very nice on tap and in bottles. You can also build a six. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 italianjohn (149) Penndel, Pennsylvania | April 19, 2010| Updated January 19, 2011 Usually have a great rotating draft list and bottles ... I love to go upstairs to the smaller bar because the bartender can take care of you a bit faster (the upstairs is closed on mondays though) .... they have lots of events and the bar is usually full of some of the nicest people in the northeast ..... the bathroom has cool beer saying tile mosaics ..... the food is a little overrated, but its decent pub grub .... if your in northeast philly this is a great pub i always have a great time here | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Tonkun (13) New York | January 31, 2010 The staffs here are ok knowledgeaable, but more importantly, friendly. The selections for loclal beer are great but so so for other beers. Great bar to visit if in town. THe only concerns is that all beer tend to be served a bit too chilled... | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 afireinside96 (33) Mountville, Pennsylvania | August 2, 2009 Though it looks rather nondescript on the outside the beers within this place are a beer lovers paradise. Most of the taps focused on local breweries with a few Belgians. The bartender was very knowledgeable and described every beer to us after we ordered it. Prices were decent, maybe slightly lower than other Philly bars. The decor was mostly ho-hum except for the mens room. It has an amazing mosaic covering every inch of it with several famous beer quotes laid out within. Worth a revisit, hopefully on a Friday the Firkenteenth. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 HereForTheBeer (12) Brattleboro, Vermont | March 17, 2009 We are big fans of Grey’s Lodge. We have been going there for many years, we started going there because the second floor was nonsmoking (now it is all nonsmoking). The food is good. I love the that the draft beer selection focuses on primarily local PA microbrews. I totally love Wednesday night Quizzo. Be sure to say hi to Frank the Tank if you go! |
