88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 mikem409 (165) bloomfield, Michigan | July 14, 2012 one of my low key favorites in the area its the ultimate hole-in-the-wall beer bar. wob is a super cool dude also chatted him up for a few hours. great tunes playing as well. the hazle nut nitro was a-mazing | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 19/20 ewally (1) , | May 11, 2012 I really enjoy this place. friendly staff. The brewers and owners are generally around the bar and provide lots of information on their beer.
They don’t have any mind blowing beers, but everything they do is very solid. I’m definitely coming back. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 bruwery (21) Lowell, Michigan | November 14, 2011 A great "local" bar. Mostly regulars every time I’m in, but they’re friendly to new faces. The small size of the place lends it an intimate feel, and makes it easy to join in conversations. The bartenders are always friendly, and the beer is always good. They serve only light snacks (popcorn, cheese and crackers), but you can bring in food or have pizza delivered.
One of my favorite hangouts. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Strykzone (78) Wood River, Illinois | September 17, 2011 You really have to want to find this but it is so worth finding. We had several of their beers, split amongst us, and all were solid. I didn’t rate all that was tasted. The staff, Jennifer, was super friendly and helpful. This is a local kind of place for serious beer lovers. I feel at home hete. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | August 16, 2011 This place is definitely a hideout as it’s tucked away in northern Grand Rapids. It’s a small charming place with 10 home brews on tap and a very limited food selection – bringing in outside food is allowed. Friendly service and decent enough beer made this a pleasant surprise on this trip to Grand Rapids. While I won’t hit this every time I’m in GR, I’ll be back on a future visit. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 kseecs16 (194) Naperville, Illinois | May 3, 2011 Nestled away off the beaten path in an office/industrial park type building. Small cozy bar and a very welcoming friendly atmosphere. Owner was hanging out when we were there and was very friendly and talkative. Beers we sampled were pretty good, sticking mostly with the two IPAs that were on tap at the time. Great place. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20 RudiNicole (77) Michigan | April 25, 2011 I would say The Hideout is a must stop if you are traveling through Grand Rapids. It really is "hidden" for the location! I went on a Saturday night, after leaving Founders. Founders was standing room only, 200+ people and The Hideout had about 6 people. The bartender was very nice, and we sampled everything on tap. I wish the selection would have been larger, but everything we tried was easy drinking and smooth. Not much of a food selection, we helped ourselves to some popcorn. Took home a growler of the Smugglers Hazelnut Stout, and it was excellent. I have also been enjoying hearing the brewer on a lot of the MI beer docs. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 cbfobes (25) Madison, Wisconsin | April 4, 2011 Visited The Hideout because Steve the Beer Geek at Hopcat said it was worth our time to make it there, overall I was pretty disappointed. The beer selection was sub par, still a neat little brewery, long live craft beer! | 50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 fredandboboflo (62) East Setauket, New York | December 23, 2010 Visited during post-work hours on a weekday in the summer. Crowd was entirely local regulars (I guess not surprising considering the location as others mention), 90% of which were consuming the same beer, though I don’t recall which one it was. No a/c despite some weird architecture that had some light streaming in to create a slight greenhouse effect. Not saying it was all that hot, but I like a little a/c...doesn’t have to be freezing like many establishments keep things, but what can I say, I like being pampered. Service was primarily one bartender who was more focused on the regulars than on us, but nothing offensive. Beer was notably mediocre across the board, sweet, muddied, and lacking nuance regardless of style. Nothing particularly terrible about the place, but nothing I liked about it either. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 dan3255 (5) | November 10, 2010 Great place to get lost at. |
