Awesome beer selection to fair prices. Very large place with lots of people working behind the bar. Relaxed feel to it.

We visited Holyrood 9A during the evening of Friday 18th March 2016. Btw the we being me, Dad and Barry, though we were being led on a whistle stop by Craig with Stella, Jan and Charlotte like us furiously trying to keep up. I am not entirely sure why we came here, however I think that it may have been in an effort to pick up some rare Irish rates, it being St Patricks Day yesterday, unfortunately for Craig and Jan I think that they were out of luck and like us they had to scratch around at the pickings.
I understand that this is a sister pub to OX184, I can see some similarities though I think I preferred OX184 myself. The bar staff here whilst desperate to impress and friendly enough seemed a little bit clueless I thought. We were not here that long before Craig, Stella. Jan and Charlotte were off, Jan amusingly joked you can calm down and take it easier now as they left us. We left at the same time as them and I didnít really get to look around here, that said it seemed a good sized place and looked quite modern. It didnít seem to far from OX184 and Brewdog but heading in a more out of the centre direction
The beer choice was fine, service was fine, I guess I would pop my head in if close by, however I wasnít massively struck on the place.
A much better range nowadays in keg and bottle by the sound of it. More styles represented and not succumbed to cans like its sister bar up the way (OX184). Craft fast food from the inadequately sized kitchen area. Staff could do with better training about the beers. There is more to good service than calling strangers íguysí and asking if everything was fine.
One of 3 fuller thomson pubs. At first glance seems like a lot of taps but a little too many are the standard lagers you see elsewhere. Reasonable bottle selection. Burgers and sweet potato fries always very tasty.
This place was packed the night that I visited, but the service was still very personal and patient. The selection of beers was a bit ordinary, but with a few interesting standouts. The burger was tasty, but expensive. I really enjoyed the diversity of the clientele and the upbeat vibe.
2014-07-10. We killed pitcher of water super quickly after a hot walk up Arthurís seat. Our friendly waitress is patient with our dehydrated melty brains. Classy old building feel with modern touches like a fresh paint job and some leather seating. Feels almost a touch more restaurant on the side of pub because of the high ceilings but I like it. Got 1/3 pint flights if three. Caesar salads are some much needed veggies after two weeks I Scotland. Tasty but too much dressing. We got some Fat Manís Nuts pistachios as a snack. The room is far too warm overall but it is probably one of the warmest days of the summer so far. Would come back, it is worth a visit.
Modern bar just off the Royal Mile, took us a while to be seated on a bustling Friday afternoon. Large selection of kegged micros, served a little too cold for my tastes. Burgers are tasty, service is friendly. Good for a few ticks and food, not a place to linger at for a longer period of time though.
