Interesting place here. Pretty good beer selection, especially for Iowa. About 50 taps from good breweries like Stone, Sam Adams, Founders, Bells, New Belgium, plus some local Iowa brews. Typical bar food type of menu. The atmosphere is where it gets interesting. The last reviewer must have come on a good night, because tonight instead of the douchebags, there are straight up drunk redneck assholes.

Where do I start? So much is right about this place. But it’s weird. Their tap system probably has 30 or 40 handles which run the gamut from Macros, to both very good and less awesome craft offerings, to a decent selection of beers from very small Iowa breweries, they’ve got some limited release stuff from Founders on at the moment, etc. They’ve got a very nice patio, and a smoking patio, if that’s your thing. The place is really big and doesn’t have a "good beer bar" vibe at all. They serve one beer for $1 a pint every single day, and this seems to bring an element of douchebaggery in that I’ve never run into at a good beer spot. The prices, even on normally very expensive beers, simply can not be beat, I paid $5 for a pint there one time but with a lot of the stuff it seems like they’re practically giving it away (ie Devil Dancer at $4 a pint, or $3 during happy hour). I love that this place exists, I love that they’re giving a damn about better beer and small breweries, but I’ve never been fully comfortable here, something’s off, seems like a lot of folks getting hammered on good beer instead of folks just enjoying good beer.... well I guess they’re enjoying getting hammered. I’m guessing that the bizarre pricing is because they’re a new place and they want to get their name out there. It is working, everyone around town is talking about the place, myself included. Maybe they’re focusing on getting the word out, accepting the temporary douche-bag factor for the time being, and working into something greater. I hope this is the case, because I want to love it so much.
