The Lauter Tun is an excellent bar for those patrons who simply love beer. With a large selection on beer on tap and a larger selection in bottles youíll be sure to find a beer to enjoy. I have enjoyed myself every time I have gone in, whether there we just a few people enjoying a beverage or a packed house. In addition every musical act I have personally witnessed has been highly entertaining. The sound is great and the stage is in an excellent location. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable, and they genuinely want you to enjoy your beer and your time at the LT.

LauraAnne hit on most of the points I was going to make. I do want to emphasize on a couple of them though. Chad has been studying his butt off for the Cicerone test. Not only is this level of dedication extremely rare, he does his best to pass on the knowledge to everyone else that works there. How many bars have you gone into that the wait staff doesnít even know the difference between an ale and a lager? This definitely isnít one of those establishments. Not only does The Lauter Tun support the local breweries, it also hugely supports the local home-brewing community. The Lauter Tun is normally closed on Mondays but they are more than happy to open up for us to hold meetings and competitions. On to the music.... The sound in the place is phenomenal and thanks to the stageís perfect location, there isnít a bad seat in the house. I have been very surprised by how good some of the bands are that play there. Be sure to check out Banjo Loco the next time they play there!!

The Lauter Tun is one of my favorite craft beer bars in Omaha. Between the number of beers on tap and what they have available in bottles, you are sure to find something you like. The owner is very big on education. If you donít know much about beer going in to the LT, they will help you find just the right drink. They do not just carry your typical domestic beers, but a wide variety of different beers, some of which are hard to get in Nebraska. They also partner with local breweries and restaurants in different events like food and beer pairings. The LT supports many of the local breweries around town and they often have some of their beers on tap. If you are there for the music, you will not be disappointed. It can vary from a jazz quartet to dueling banjos to nationally known acts like Billy McQuigan and Jimmy Weber. Whether you are there for the beer or for the music, you wonít be disappointed, but get there early because it fills up fast!

One of the most knowledgable staff on the subject of beer Iíve met in the metro area especially the owner and bar manager. The beer selection on tap and in bottles have been excellent, especially when new brews show up before the release events occur, Iím familiar of that happening on at least a couple of occaisions along with exclusive taps and the beers are always served in the proper glassware which adds greatly to the overall enjoyment of said brews. I have not been in attendence for any of the music events, but I have heard many of the acts before and they have been very good. Although there is no regular bar food they haver an excellent pub mix available upon request.

This place has no vibe but they do have wanta be John Mayerís playing Open Mic and yes they are very bad,The Staff/Ownership Ben & Chad if I remember right are Rude & Snobish and are very unfamiliar with the products they sell besides the Miller High Life on tap of course. you will be lucky to see more than 10 people in this place on any given night. and I hope you like Jazz or bad local talent for Music. if visiting from out of town or if you live in Omaha Donít wast your time on this place. Tap line up was OK nothing great though. Check out Krug Park in Omaha itís a way better & classier craft beer bar.

From a patronís standpoint I think this is a great bar. Live music several nights a week from some of the areas best jazz and acoustic musicians as well as regional and national touring acts. 22 tap beers constantly rotating and though they have had the occasional "nostalgic" beer, the drafts are almost always local, craft and import. The bottle list must be over 50 or 60 now and gets bigger by the day. The patrons are generally very friendly and often beer geeks themselves. Owners and management are constantly learning new things, taking beer certification courses, and have brewing experience as well. They really seem to love educating staff and guests alike. Weekends can get a little busy depending on music or beer events, but the service is generally very friendly and efficient. A great addition to the craft beer scene in Omaha among other greats like Crescent Moon in Midtown, Krug Park and Jakeís Cigars and Beercade in Benson. Library Pub in Northwest Omaha, Brass Monkey in South O. And downtown even has several smaller bars that have a good selection like Stiles Pub and a few others. Dont forget to check out Upstream and Nebraska Brewing Company!.
