Typical village pub in Trellech. 5 beers on tap and very well looked after. The pub is full of character and has lots of characters in the bar. Cider and beer festivals held here in the summer months.

This is a classic village community pub, which hasnít lost sight of itís purpose in life. The atmosphere is rustic, and the locals, who usually fill the bar, and staff are friendly and welcoming, as is the real log fire which is proudly featured as part of the pubs character in the winter months. The beer is well kept, interesting and changes frequently, with a minimun of 3 ales kept on tap. The food is good, and this is one of the only pubs left in the area that make chips from actual potatoes ! Well worth a visit.

We used this pub as a rendezvous point for a number of parties converging from different part of England en route to a holiday in Wales. Itís ideally situated for that purpose but therís no mobile phone coverage, nor is there a pay phone in the bar, so if anyone gets delayed theyíre not going to be able to let you know. Itís a cosy stone built pub. The large dining area to the left as you go in suggests that the food is a big draw (the landlord is Hungarian and Hunagrian specialities often feature). However, last food ordres are at 2, and we were later than that, so didnít eat. Unlike many country pubs, the food side of things doesnít dominate too much and the main bar has a community feel, although it was not very busy when we were there. Four handpumps, plus Orchards cider. The regular beer is Bath SPA, with two or three changing guests from microbreweries. There are a couple of beer festivals a year and occasional low key music gigs (details on the extensive website) Gwent CAMRA pub of the year 2003.
