64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Brugmansia (256) Jylland, Denmark | February 22, 2013| Updated February 25, 2013 One of the better JDW I have visited. Good range on the beers, that normally also are in a good condition. Friendly staff, very clean and quiet pub, seems very much, in the daytime, that it is one of the favorite pubs for the retired people :-) | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 13/20 wheresthepath (47) , England | November 21, 2012| Updated February 25, 2013 This is the oldest and smallest of the Reading Wetherspoons. In fact it’s quite cramped and can get rather busy even on weekday lunchtime and evenings - but this does give it more atmos than other ’Spoons pubs. Despite this, it has the largest selection of beer of the ’Spoons (split between two bars), and unlike many ’Spoons seems to make a real effort to not clog up too many pumps wth IPA, Abbott etc. There’s often a local(ish) beer on too eg Rebellion or Loddon. Service is very quick, and the staff are ufriendly and several of them seem quite interested and knowledgeable about their beers. The beer patio at the front is a bit desperate, but overall it’s one of the better ’Spoons pubs I’ve been in. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 11/20 chriso (306) London, England | August 30, 2012| Updated February 25, 2013 Fairly standard town bentre Wetherspooms - one of several in Reading - with a better than average range of beers, inckluding on my latest visit an exclusive house special brewed by Loddon. THere are two bars with different beers - one near the door as you eneter and another further in and up a few stairs - so make sure to check both. Worth a look. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 oh6gdx (155) Vasa, Finland | May 13, 2012| Updated February 25, 2013 A quite typical Spoons by the look of it. However, this one has a bunch of different real ales on at a time (downstairs bar had 4-5 handpumps), going up the stairs, there was 4 more and behind the corner further 4 handpumps. Beers in almost all of them when visiting. Friendly service. Did not eat, but usually I have not been disappointed eating at Spoons pubs. |
