92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 RS2409 (4) , | April 15, 2013 Excellent beer bar. A bit off the beaten path, which is great because the crowd is mostly local, with very few tourists stumbling in. Amazing constantly revolving beer selection with very knowledgeable bar tenders. Highly recommend. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 theisti (352) Leawood, Kansas | March 15, 2013 Visited late night on a Thursday. Cool looking bar on a corner in Hell’s Kitchen. Dominant feature inside is the tap list, which is beamed out of two LCD tv’s above the bar. 21 beers on, one of which was cask. Hard rock was playing, crowd seemed pretty local, everyone having a good time drinking good beers. I did like the $6 per beer concept, with either shaker pint or 8 oz glass depending on what you ordered. Service was attentive. I would hit this spot again if I am ever nearby. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 jrgratz (11) New York | March 4, 2013 Good place.. middle of nowhere.. literally this place and a gas station.. 5 dollar beers is nice.. selection is good. Above average place in midtown. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 TBone (188) Pori, Finland | February 26, 2013 One of my favourites in NYC. Good service, cheap, excellent tap selection. Last time I visited during Founders tap takeover .... | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 puzzl (123) New York, New York | February 19, 2013 Fast turn around and great selection. Prices hurt a bit since they raised them to a flat $6. All the good stuff you want to drink is $6/8oz, which is quite expensive, especially when you add in the relative value of a $1, which is more on smaller pours. Gets really, really crowded; you’ve been warned. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 swoopjones (230) Buffalo, New York | December 7, 2012 liked the atmosphere, decent draft selection, little suprised about the saranac & mckenzies cider on tap. Food sounded good, calamari was ok. draft glasses were 13 or 8oz. Maine Beer MO was great & Perennial Peach Berliner Weiss was nice. Sublimely self righteous on cask. $9 for a shot of baileys seemed quite steep for our non beer drinkers. I did like it here and will definately be back | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 DruncanVeasey (20) NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, England | December 5, 2012| Updated December 20, 2012 And then there’s The Pony. My NYC local. That’s exactly what it feels like; cramped, sweaty, impractically minute, all about The Beer. Not the kind of place you’d take your Mother-in-law after midnight on a Saturday night. And yet that’s what happened. Chalkboard of obscurities on my visit(s). Gutted I didn’t make it back last time in NYC. Wetherspoons prices. But a somewhat funkier/geekier clientele. Proper beer place without pretensions. Highly recommended. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | November 30, 2012| Updated December 20, 2012 Nice small corner bar with tons of wood and few tables and barrels for patrons to socialize. Nice tap selection which is all $5 whether it be 16 or 8 oz servings. Had an oyster sandwich which was solid. All of their beers are listed on 2 television screens which I initially thought was a little out of place, but in hind sight it makes the tap list very easy to read versus trying to decipher someones handwriting on a chalk board. Really liked this place. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | October 24, 2012| Updated December 20, 2012 This place is pretty chill. They have relatively obscure American craft beers. Any place in which I haven’t had more than half the beers is worthy of some commendation. The ambiance was good, except that there were really stupid flat panels that had the beer lists on them. Basically, it looked terrible. I think they should go back to chalk boards. I guess there might have been music, but if there was I don’t remember it. Beer is all five dollars; it just depends on what size pour you will get. Unfortunately, they also sell bottles of Bud Light to idiots. The bar tender was nice, but I didn’t talk to him much. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | October 9, 2012| Updated December 20, 2012 This is a great pure American beer bar with no bottles and ~20 all American tap with 14 oz or 8 oz pours for $5, a fantastic deal in NYC. It’s classic simple American in style and ambiance...in other words very comfortable and familiar. It’s very small and gets crowded in waves so drinks can be hard to get though the bartenders are pretty fast. The vibe is kind of well, collegiate and Manhattan midtown.. Other than the annoyingly garrish giant flat panels they use for their tap list this is about as good a combo of quality, comfort, and value you will find in a beer bar as you will find in Manhattan. |
