And then thereís The Pony. My NYC local. Thatís exactly what it feels like; cramped, sweaty, impractically minute, all about The Beer. Not the kind of place youíd take your Mother-in-law after midnight on a Saturday night. And yet thatís what happened. Chalkboard of obscurities on my visit(s). Gutted I didnít make it back last time in NYC. Wetherspoons prices. But a somewhat funkier/geekier clientele. Proper beer place without pretensions. Highly recommended.

Nice small corner bar with tons of wood and few tables and barrels for patrons to socialize. Nice tap selection which is all $5 whether it be 16 or 8 oz servings. Had an oyster sandwich which was solid. All of their beers are listed on 2 television screens which I initially thought was a little out of place, but in hind sight it makes the tap list very easy to read versus trying to decipher someones handwriting on a chalk board. Really liked this place.

This place is pretty chill. They have relatively obscure American craft beers. Any place in which I havenít had more than half the beers is worthy of some commendation. The ambiance was good, except that there were really stupid flat panels that had the beer lists on them. Basically, it looked terrible. I think they should go back to chalk boards. I guess there might have been music, but if there was I donít remember it. Beer is all five dollars; it just depends on what size pour you will get. Unfortunately, they also sell bottles of Bud Light to idiots. The bar tender was nice, but I didnít talk to him much.

This is a great pure American beer bar with no bottles and ~20 all American tap with 14 oz or 8 oz pours for $5, a fantastic deal in NYC. Itís classic simple American in style and ambiance...in other words very comfortable and familiar. Itís very small and gets crowded in waves so drinks can be hard to get though the bartenders are pretty fast. The vibe is kind of well, collegiate and Manhattan midtown.. Other than the annoyingly garrish giant flat panels they use for their tap list this is about as good a combo of quality, comfort, and value you will find in a beer bar as you will find in Manhattan.

Last visit on 29/02/12. a few previous to this since it opened.
Smallish single roomed bar.
20 beers on tap, good stuff, no crap. Have never looked at the bottle menu tbh as have tended to pop by for an hour at a time and always enough to interest me on tap! Always pretty busy and if you want to sit down you often end up sharing with others. Bit of a DFH thang going down on my last visit, WWS and others on the go.
Cheap for Manhattan but smaller pours than other venues.
Happy hour $5 beers is 4.20pm - 5.20pm.
Always a place I go back to on NYC visits if only for an hour or so.

Quite small pub with tv-screens showing you what beers are available. 20 taps and 2 casks. Very good prices, I paid 4 dollars for a pint on a late Saturday afternoon. Cozy place that I will visit again.

God, I love this place. Always a great selection and constantly changing. A celebration of American craft brew, and the hardest working bartenders in New York.

Finally managed to make it here and Iím glad I did. They donít open until 3 most days which was what had kept me away for so long. Not living in NYC I often take a train down for beer events that start at somewhere between 3-5 and if I get down to the city a few hours early I like to find somewhere else to go grab a pint or two ahead of time. Managed to come down for something that started a bit later, but still came down early enough to come over to the Pony. I love the simplicity of their beer lists. Everything is $5 and comes in one of two sizes depending on the ABV/rarity of the keg. A welcome change from some of the other beer destinations not too far away who are up to charging $1/oz for a lot of things (granted they may be a bit rarer and harder to come by than most of the list at Pony, but when youíre looking for a place to spend an afternoon drinking a few pints and donít care about necessarily getting the absolute rarest things, this is a good thing). With a list of 20 beers on tap and 2 casks, I still found 5 things that were new for me so I was happy about that. No flights but as others have said theyíll happily pour you a taste of something. Had a bite to eat here as well. A.L.T. - Avocado, lettuce, tomato. Delicious. Could have eaten a couple more of these and not because the sandwich wasnít filling enough (it was), but it was just that tasty. Horseradish pickles as well. Iím already trying to figure out when I can sneak back here.

Nice place with webupdated tap menu. Staff is fast and knowledgeable. Unfortunately they dont do flights, but they do free samples of 5 cl, so if you do like I did and order a beer and 2 freebies, it pretty much works out like flights. All beers are same price at $5 and will come in either 8fl.oz glasses or 14 fl.oz. glasses. Didnt try their food.

Modern bar with lots of interesting beers on tap. The service was pleasant and even though we arrived just after opening, they were ready to serve us the best way. Slightly atypical bar which is certainly worth a visit.
