If you want craft beer in Atlanta, you MUST go to The Porter Beer Bar. Handís down one of the best craft beer bars Iíve been to. They had a great selection of drafts (around 30 or 35) and the bottle list was amazing. Then, you get to the back of the bottle list and you hit the Vintage bottle list which was another 15 or so pages. WOW! I love the look of the place, the people were very nice, the service was great, the neighborhood is charming. The only complaint was the food. The mac and cheese was fine as was the spent grain bread with butter. But I had some short ribs my dog wouldnít have been able to chew through. But forget the food...the beer was AMAZING!

Rustic old industrial building bar decor. Exposed brick and ceiling structure. What a beer list! Some dozens on tap, and page after page of bottles and a deep vintage list. The place was crowded and very noisy, and they needed another couple of servers. That aside, the food was good and people friendly.

Well, think this is a must for beer geeks. Really stuffed with beer memorabilia and customers. Long long list of craft beers. Friendly service, quick to. Wish I was not the designated driver. So hard to make a choice.

A really superb bar right by the Little Five Points triangle. Itís long and very narrow with seating mainly at the bar. Then thereís a set of wonky steps leading up to a separate dining room and some steps down from there into a very nice cellar room which is used for tastings. There are 40-50 taps plus an excellent and very extensive bottle list so we were almost spoiled for choice. The service was great too. Highly recommended.

Yeah, this place is serious. I didnít love my experience, but that was based on my circumstance, as Iíd driven 12+ hours, had already eaten/had beers at Wrecking Bar, etc. Pretty serious list; not quite the best in the country, but no joke in any way, shape, or form. Service was solid, not particularly great but better than most. All in all, this place was worthy of top 50, but maybe not top 10. Reminded me a lot of Spuyten Duyvil with a much better list. Missing an intangible (maybe service?), but by measure completely outstanding.

Visited 03/11/15. Long, narrow space with a large back room. Refreshingly, the crowd was pretty diverse and friendly. Draft options were plentiful, but my attention was more focused on the impressive vintage bottle list. Plenty of fun Belgian things were available. I settled on a 2012 bottle of Orval, which was a steal at only $11. The food available looked very tasty and generously portioned. Overall, worthy of a detour. This place is undoubtedly one of the best bars in the Southeast.

This place is a beer lovers dream. Great tap list, and an extensive cellar. You could spend all day looking at the list. Food is good, typical pub fare. Service is good, knowledgeable servers. Gets a bit crowded at times and hard to get a seat. Neighborhood is a bit sketchy at times, and expensive. The only downfalls.

Food was good. Duck and foie gras soup dumplings? Yes, please. Massive tap list that included a four year vertical of founders breakfast stout, many local brews and many interesting choices. Very long bar with lots of seats. The vintage list was well curated and includes lots of 3/4 year old barleywines, stouts, and various Belgians. Overall a good experience and if beer selection is what your looking for, this is the place to go in Atlanta.

Ok ok ok.... so best rated beer bar right? This place actually kind of sucks.
The food is good, the selection is insane but dear god is this the most over priced placed I have ever been. Ambience is sort of like back alley (if youíve been there you know what Iím talking about).
Overall there are just better places to go. I mean, you can get this same stuff for literally half the price down the street.

Seriously if you live in Atlanta and havenít been here, youíre missing out. Probably the best place Iíve ever been to for beer. Huge tap list, huge bottle list, and a giant cellar of things that arenít even listed on the menu. You can go back and walk around and admire the bottles (stuff you wouldnít imagine theyíd have), point a few out, get prices from the staff, and decide to blow your load on them all. Prices were in line with what youíd expect at a bar/restaurant, with some outrageously priced and others just somewhat high. But thatís to be expected. I got a 2009 Old Stock Cellar Reserve to start, and finished with a 2011 French Oak Jose Marti. I could have spent north of $1,000 at this place. Iím not going to list everything in the cellar because Iím not even sure if theyíre supposed to have some of that out of distro stuff. Food was also incredibly good, staff was nicer than any beer bar Iíve ever been to, with lots of patience for me and my questions about both beers they had and their pricing. I canít recommend this place enough. Seriously though, even if you donít want vintage or crazy cellar bottles, just go and look at the place. Just awesome.
