The Porter is my local, and I love it. The wait staff is incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful, as several of them now know my tastes better than I do.

Visited in February 2014. Just what I hoped to find, and (half) expected to find in a part of town that had been described to me as "hippy". Gently bohemian Iíd say. The bar is long and narrow with a slightly shabby chic feel. Seemed to open up a bit into more of an eating area at the back although we just sat at the bar & I didnít explore much up there. Atmosphere was a little compromised by the fact that the little green/seating area near the front door seemed to be the gathering point for all the local bums & tramps. Not that that really impacted on the ambience inside the bar.

We ended up staying rather longer here than intended due to failing to correctly note the opening times of the Wrecking Bar just down the road. The well-curated draft list kept us nicely occupied for all that time so we didnít have to stray into the bottle list. The selection was a good mix of solid beers, both domestic and imported although a little light on local stuff - perhaps was just unlucky with timing on that. Service was excellent - enthusisatic and clued up - and the bart ender was very generous with free samples, which is just as well as I would have been shotfaced had I had a full pour of everything I wanted.

Well worth a trip. Lodging in Decatur - where there are some budget options with parking and a good smattering of decent bars - and using the MARTA to travel to Little Five Points and/or more into the city centre is a good option.

Visited this beer bar on 27.4.2016. It is a 10 minutes walk from the Wrecking Brew Pub. Great long bar with 40 beers on tap and 2 hand pumps. Similar to Toronado in SF, but they have additional rooms in the rear part. Interesting selection of beers, from sour ales to smoked beers and heavy IPAís. Really enjoyed the hand pump beer, which was served at room temperature. Also food was quite good, had a Bratwurst with Kraut.

This wasnít exactly as good as I expected. Seemed a lot like Churchkey in D.C. but not quite as good - but then thatís a high standard to hearken to. Lots of beers on tap and even more in bottle, though there wasnít much interesting and also affordable in the latter. Big minus here is there are no 4 oz pours or flights available. Pints only, so donít expect to make any kind of dent on the sizable menu. Ok service.

Seems a bit overrated to me. The tap list was nice and the best feature. Very tornado like dive vibe. Crowded. Food is creative pub food, but still pub food. Not much lighter fare. Bottle list is super long but had nothing I couldnít live without. Vintage list was idiculously high priced. Worth a stop for beer geeks, but Trappeze in Athens was superior.

Tucked away in the historic neighborhood of Little Five Points, this gem offers a wide variety of great brews and excellent food. I counted about fifty taps two of which were pump drawn casks and at least 5 nitro taps. A good selection of European, solid selection of regional as well as brews from west of the Rockies. Although most people are drinking beer, they have some old school craft cocktails as well that would have been fun to try. They had 3 Japanese whiskeys that are quite tasty and a fairly good Scotch selection for a beer bar. The ambiance is cool and probably best suited for groups of 2-4. Long and skinny building. It has a lot of character. The food was really good. The house made pretzel with beer cheese sauce was surprisingly good and takes a different angle on the pretzel. I also ordered the mussels in the appetizer section and I got a GIANT amount for $9. It comes in a great garlic broth with a big chunk of bread. I didnít even look at their bottle list but whatever people asked for, if it wasnít on tap, it was in a bottle. This is a place well worth my train ride and when the power grid went out I had to take a Lyft the rest of the way.

Kind of a small place. Inside is rather narrow with a long bar and sort of an industrial feel to it. Rebar and such included in the decor. Good selection of beers from all over the world, though I guess a bit of a focus on east coast/southeast breweries and beers, but plenty of cool imports as well.

Pretty good service here and the prices are fair, though pretty much on par for what Iím used to in California...no bargains or anything.

Looks like they have a separate dining room and thereís food available here as well, though we didnít eat. Food menu/options looked pretty tempting, but since a big meal was on deck and we had already hit up The Varsity, decided to pass.

All in all, a very solid beer bar. The real exciting options seemed to be more in the bottle, but Iíd imagine they get some pretty good drafts here, too.

Rustic old industrial building bar decor. Exposed brick and ceiling structure. What a beer list! Some dozens on tap, and page after page of bottles and a deep vintage list. The place was crowded and very noisy, and they needed another couple of servers. That aside, the food was good and people friendly.

Well, think this is a must for beer geeks. Really stuffed with beer memorabilia and customers. Long long list of craft beers. Friendly service, quick to. Wish I was not the designated driver. So hard to make a choice.

A really superb bar right by the Little Five Points triangle. Itís long and very narrow with seating mainly at the bar. Then thereís a set of wonky steps leading up to a separate dining room and some steps down from there into a very nice cellar room which is used for tastings. There are 40-50 taps plus an excellent and very extensive bottle list so we were almost spoiled for choice. The service was great too. Highly recommended. (Visited 20 February 2014).
