Iím probably completely biased, as this is "my" beer bar, but at the end of the day, they did have to earn it to get me to say that. The Porter has excellent staff, service, selection, and even food. If I were a foodie who knew nothing about beer, itíd still be a worthwhile destination, due to the husband-wife collaboration of Nick, the chef, and Molly, the beer and general operation person. If you make more than a few appearances, they are sure to recognize you and know you, and youíll never be disappointed by the selection, a wonderful mix of a few awesome standards (Bernardus Abt 12, Delirium Tremens, and Duchesse du Bourgnone are on about 80% of the time, and youíll almost always see at least one of them) and a really cool mix of others, some obscure and some well-known. Trust me, if youíre a beer person, you wonít ever leave disappointed.
For a true sense of the awesomeness of the bar, come for one of their beer classes, held regularly on the third Tuesday of each month.

Belgian Fries were good. Am coming back another time to try their brunch. Sounds yummy. Theyíve got cocktails on top of beer - perfect for our group! Service was consistent. Bottle selection was OK. Draft was better. Check it out!

Stopped by this place on accident in June of 2011 and was happily surprised!
A really cool little place. My only complaint is that the bar area is pretty small/tight. I can see it being pretty annoying if itís busy. It wasnít when I was there, though, so no ambiance complaints.
I have to say for such an awesome place my service was decent but not stellar. It was mid-afternoon and there seemed to only be one bartender. He was friendly and seemed to know a fairly decent amount of beer, but he wasnít particularly prompt and couldnít answer a couple of questions I had about a couple of the beers (granted they have a lot).
Tons of beers on tap and in the bottle with a nice menu divided by style. Iím assuming itís about all the worthwhile beers available in Atlanta.
I thought some of the bottle prices were a bit steep, but the tap list seemed to be reasonable.
Overall, this is a must stop in Atlanta for sure. Great place!

This is my favorite neighborhood place. Itís my "Cheers," and while everyone knows my name it is the constantly changing beer list that keeps me coming back. With weekly specials including tap takeovers, pint nights and more the list always includes something either new to the market or new to me. But itís not just at the bar they excel. Co-Owner Nick Rutherford does amazing things in the kitchen. My only complaint is that some of the more popular "specials" like ramen havenít found a permanent home on their regular menu.

Extensive beer menu, excellent prices, friendly knowledgeable staff. If youíre in Atlanta donít miss this one of a kind local pub. Only negative is smoking is permitted after 10.

Personal consultations a plenty and as long as you like. Generous draft tastings. Good food made better by the make-it-your-way service. Best value for the mega-craft and food niche. Personal and quality.
Ambiance is kind of hole-in-the-wall, but welcome and typical of old, neighborhoods like Little Five Points Atlanta.

Absolutely great list of beers, alsmost everything you could want. Place can get very crowded, but canít blame them for doing great business. Food is great, servers know their beer, a great place

We stopped by on a rainy Saturday afternoon and were immediately impressed. Itís small and cozy, no TVs, and lots wood and exposed brick. Our server was attentive and very knowledgible of the beer and what was available. The food was mostly glorified pub grub, which was fine. I really liked the place and couldíve happily spent all afternoon there.

Spend an absolutely delightful afternoon here with a dear friend while in town for a conference. After cabbing it from downtown to Little Five Points, we literally had to walk through a Tea Party rally to cross the threshold. It made the comforts of this superlative gastropub even greater. Old school bar, long and narrow, with mellow lighting, dark wood, and NO TVs! We bellied up to the bar and were immediately impressed by the superb tap and bottle offerings. We stuck with taps all day but the bottle list was rocking to be sure. Justin and Neil were unbelievably cool and helpful and knowledgeable throughout, so shout outs to them are much deserved. We sampled some nice Mikkeller, BFM, Lagunitas, Southern Tier, and more. And the food was really excellent, with bacalau (!) the highlight and sweet local cheeses too. Top notch, a must in Atlanta.
