This is my favorite neighborhood place. Itís my "Cheers," and while everyone knows my name it is the constantly changing beer list that keeps me coming back. With weekly specials including tap takeovers, pint nights and more the list always includes something either new to the market or new to me. But itís not just at the bar they excel. Co-Owner Nick Rutherford does amazing things in the kitchen. My only complaint is that some of the more popular "specials" like ramen havenít found a permanent home on their regular menu.

Personal consultations a plenty and as long as you like. Generous draft tastings. Good food made better by the make-it-your-way service. Best value for the mega-craft and food niche. Personal and quality.
Ambiance is kind of hole-in-the-wall, but welcome and typical of old, neighborhoods like Little Five Points Atlanta.

Absolutely great list of beers, alsmost everything you could want. Place can get very crowded, but canít blame them for doing great business. Food is great, servers know their beer, a great place

We stopped by on a rainy Saturday afternoon and were immediately impressed. Itís small and cozy, no TVs, and lots wood and exposed brick. Our server was attentive and very knowledgible of the beer and what was available. The food was mostly glorified pub grub, which was fine. I really liked the place and couldíve happily spent all afternoon there.

Spend an absolutely delightful afternoon here with a dear friend while in town for a conference. After cabbing it from downtown to Little Five Points, we literally had to walk through a Tea Party rally to cross the threshold. It made the comforts of this superlative gastropub even greater. Old school bar, long and narrow, with mellow lighting, dark wood, and NO TVs! We bellied up to the bar and were immediately impressed by the superb tap and bottle offerings. We stuck with taps all day but the bottle list was rocking to be sure. Justin and Neil were unbelievably cool and helpful and knowledgeable throughout, so shout outs to them are much deserved. We sampled some nice Mikkeller, BFM, Lagunitas, Southern Tier, and more. And the food was really excellent, with bacalau (!) the highlight and sweet local cheeses too. Top notch, a must in Atlanta.

Five visits in 2010, most recent Aug 2011.
Big downgrade in Aug 2011. Worst bartender ever at the Porter, so downgrading and putting this on my three year blues watch. Might be thinking better than it really is aka Browers in Seattle.
Like a Portland or Seattle beer bar dropped into the beer desert of Georgia. 30-40 minute walk from downtown, $10-12 cab ride.
Plus- poor toGood to excellent bartenders; great food; younger hip crowd; bartenders are good with samples as they seem genuinely committed to finding the right beer; deep and varied selection from Belgians and other Europeans to west coast standouts to some occasionally surprising southern beers..
minus- younger, hip crowd; some might not like the "little 5 Points area" (I do); some beers a bit pricy for the pours; sm0king alowed
Food always varied and excellent. Would give a higher value rating if they didnít have so many 8-12 oz. pours of mid level beers; ambiance would be a 5 if no smoking
THE beer stop in Atlanta.

Best selection of craft beer in Atlanta. Great food far above the norm. Great service and very knowledgeable staff. A must if in Little 5 Points area.

Wow. This place was pretty cool. Nice front bar area that yields a small seating area in the back. The staff was attentive; we got there just before last call, and they made sure we had at least 2 beers before they stopped pouring. They had Curieux and Four on cask and some nice offerings that could not be found other places. Enjoyable: their organic bean burger and fries with parsley were both excellent and well-seasoned. My only complaint is that they closed earlier than they posted on the web, which is why I went there. Still cool as hell and very glad I went. I cannot imagine how crazy this place must be when theyíre crowded.
