Tiny tiny good-beer bar in an alleyway off McDougal.
Ambience is very cool, super dark, you need a candle or a phone to read the beer list.
Good selection of almost entirely euro bottles, a few taps. Not going to find anything that rare or cutting edge here though.
Price point is pretty high though. Owner is a nice guy.
Worth going to for a drink or two if youíre around.

When you find this place youíll understand that you need to crawl down into the rabbit hole. Itís underground and itís dirty and dark, looking very much like a San Francisco bar. Pretty cool actually. There isnít much in the way of seating but there is an occasional alcove you can sit in and there are a couple tables in the back. The bathroom has a display in it for beer with a Cantillon poster front and center. Kind of odd but whatever. I was expecting (more hoping) that this really was going to be like SF and Iíd be able to listen to some metal but they had some more poppy crap playing. Canít win them all I guess. In any case the bartender was friendly enough (bare minimum requirements) and served a pint of All Day IPA. Not very many taps to pick from but they also have a good amount of bottles. They have a display of branded glasses hanging behind the bar if you want to get a bottle of something. This was a short stop, maybe 20 minutes to drink a pint and head out. Now if they had started playing Motorhead like I suggested to the bartender things could have been different.
Prices were reasonable, I donít think they serve food but I didnít look or ask, and I gave the ambiance a 4 because itís a cool place. Itís a dingy hole in the wall but itís got a certain charm.

Cam for drinks around midnight after poker. In was already a little drunk but i remember it being cool ambience, I had just won money didnít mind higher prices, interesting international beer list which since I decided it was Europe night for me drinks wise worked well. Bartender was cool so a fun time.

This is one of the more sexy beer spots in NYC...depending on the kind of gal or guy it could be a great date spot...was for me once. But you have to get there early or get very lucky for a seat. Otherwise it will be uncomfortable. The beer list is lots of classic and familiar Belgians mostly. Other review are right on.

Iíve been here three times and have liked it less and less each visit. Very dark-lit, narrow bar which barely provides enough walking room between the bar and the wall behind your back. They have a decent international beer list, but pretty bad american list. Sometimes you have to ring a doorbell to get in, which is a neat idea on paper. Somewhat pricey.

A very nice underground (literally) spot. Mainly Belgian and German bottles with a few good American draft options.. overall good quality stuff and the selection varies over time.
