This is pretty much the only place I even would consider paying six quid (or more) a pint for draught beer - and here I will even do it willingly! As well as several (usually British) cask ales on hand-pump, there are kegged US and other rare-in-London microbrews on tap, plus a good selection of bottles. Service is friendly but can be a bit slow.

One of the original craft beer bars of London. Although, in the last two years The Rake has been surpassed by no less than five other bars, in my opinion, in terms of beer variety, beer quality and certainly atmosphere. The bar itself is modest and quite small, with a slightly larger patio adjacent. Most of the people, however, stand around in a nearby parking lot drinking their beers. The tap selection was decent on my first visit, with several British bitters, American brewer Stone, and some other oddities. There seemed to be an extensive bottle selection in the fridges behind the bar but I stuck to the draught stuff. The main reason I went to the bar was for a BrewDog tasting with brewer James Watt, which was superb. We tried three rare beers, including the AB:03, the Devine Rebel Mortlach Reserve 2008, and the End of History. The tap line-up seems to change quickly - I saw two changes just while I was there on a Tuesday evening - so I look forward to returning to try new beers. Great place.

Small, very cool beer-centric bar. Nothing bad to say about the place--great selection, knowledgeable staff, casual.

Modern beer joint in near the Borough Market in Southwark. Has a good mix of foreign brews, interesting specials and some special English beer as well. Small place, but friendly vibe and I think the beer selection exceeded my expectations - it wasnít just the usual Americans and Belgians, but a really fun list that could bring out repeated visits.

This place was packed early evening on a Friday night. The bartenders seemed friendly and knowledgeable. There is a sign above the bar that says "No Crap on Tap" and for the most part I believe it to be true. They didnít have a huge amount of taps, and what they did have seemed to be carefully selected. They also had pretty nice bottle list as well. On the walls they had signatures of brewers who had visited there, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Good location, but a bit expensive and I think these two goes together. The patio is brilliant, at least at summer. Supricingly the pub has only few taps, but number of bottles is definetely a plus. If you are visiting London, and near by Tower Bridge, donít go by without visiting the Rake.

More of a beer bar than pub but a very good one at that. Plenty of bottles with focus of Germany and US. About 8 taps inc Sierra Nevarda and Flying Dog. Fantastic beer garden. Recommended, particularly on a sunny day.

Wow! What a place. Located in a very industrial/marketplace in London, this bar stands out from most places Iíve been too. Tap selection was unreal - maybe not for everyone, but where I come from, this stuff is impossible to get. Also, what a perfect time to go there, they had Thomas Hardy on cask! This is not recent though, i went here a few years back, and boy was this good. The place was defiantly ready to close when I got there and i managed to convince them to let us stay for a few beers. After chatting with the servers, they were kind enough to bring me downstairs and check out their bottle room and keg room. uhh WOW! Had such a good time, highly recommend this place. Only downside is that they close pretty early 11pm - the earlier the better!

Small bar just a stoneís throw from the borough market. Fantastic selection of bottled and keg beers plus a couple on cask. Can have a slightly pretentious feel to the place and the staff arenít particularly friendly but then you come here for the beer and that is top quality.

In the US, we think of the Rake as Englandís Kulminator or the UK version of Ebenezers. It was a huge disappointment. I was expecting atleast a nice lambic on draft, maybe some very hard to find bottles, maybe a few other rare beers on cask. They had none...they had sweet fruit lambic on draft....a few US beers on draft like SN Stout for $8 pint....no írareí lambic bottles, just basic stuff...only 1 of the 3 handpumps had something I hadnít seen earlier in the day ..an IPA from DarkStar(UK) and I think it was 4gbp. This place in not cheap. Maybe I got unlucky ...its worth a stop by Uttobeer and Market Porter but I was extremely underwhelmed.
