2013-04-26. Back bar was quite busy on our first so we opted to sit at the little side bar for a drink or two. Pretty impressive tap list, with lots of Vermont locals, with flights available. Not a ton of amazing beers but lots of good ones. We came back the next day and sat on the other larger side of the bar in the afternoon. Staff was friendly, decor is sort of non-descript but fine. Less swanky that it seemed from the website. Didn’t love the atmosphere as much as Blackback and Prohibition Pig but the large tap list more than made up for it. Solid bottle list as well, we finished off with a HF/Fantome 5 Sciences. Would come back.

Nice restaurant and pub. Service was really good and friendly! 36-tap line including 18 Vermont beers (some HF and Lawson’s). Lot of "lesser" beer too (ie Stella Artois). Food was good (not as much as Prohibition Pig though, more familial). Price were good. Worth the detour!

Local pub/restaurant with 36 taps. 2 HF taps and 1 Lawson’s and a decent selection of other stuff. The selection is not as highly concentrated as the Black Back or Prohibition Pig as far as the beer quality. It looked like some of the pours might be a touch larger than the other places meaning better value. I counted 13 Vermont brews on tap. I did not order food but it looked like traditional pub fare. Friendly and homey...some beers served in mason jars.

In the list of places to go in Waterbury this is for sure is near the bottom. However, what is nice about this place is they do have sample flights of 4 brews. With about 30 taps and a few nice bottles if you are willing to pay the extra cost. The bartender was friendly and was on top of her game during peak hours on a Friday night. We didn’t eat anything so I can’t comment on the food. Waterbury isn’t very big so it is possible that I stop in here again on my next trip. It really could be a coin toss depending what Black Back or the Pig has on draft. They did have 1 Hill Farmstead and Lawsons Finest Toast on draft so… it is in the realm of possibility.

Had some lunch and sampled some beers from their very fine taplist, which includes a few beers by Hill Farmstead and Founder’s, and many other local Vermont brewers. One of the several worthwhile pubs to hit if passing through Waterbury.

The least impressive of Waterbury’s three top beer bars. The selection of VT micros is totally solid, and the kitchen takes a respectable shot at upscale bar food, occasionally succeeding. The atmosphere was sportsy and loud, and likely more friendly to a broader crowd than the other two places; furthermore, the service was friendly but painfully slow, demonstrating what seemed unfortunately to be a basic lack of concern and certainly very little beer awareness. I came here because there was a wait at Prohibition Pig, and unless something special was on tap (a definite to be the case at times), that’s the only circumstance under which I’d go back.

This was more restaurant than bar. Smaller bar upping the ante for the eatery. Yes, some very good local selections including just the one HF that day. Cannot compare to the Blackfly or the Probition P. within a two-minute walk, but if they have something left that the other places ran out of, then why not.

After checking out the much more crowded Prohibition Pig next door, we decided to have dinner here on our way back from Burlington. The dining area consists of pub style tables, and the place was half full, I’d guess. I like the vibe; doesn’t hurt that they had the Red Sox game on. While there is a small bar in this section, they also have a large bar in another area if you are there just to drink. The beer menu is more than adequate with 35-40 drafts and quite a few bottles. I had a pint of Lawsons Knockout Blonde. Had I noticed the option to get a flight of five local brews for the same price sooner I would have done that. Great idea and excellent value. The food was very good; we didn’t order anything out of the box, but the homemade mac & chese, sweet potato fries, and chicken spinach wrap were all really well done. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We had a nice time at this place and wouldn’t hesitate to go back if in the area again.

A bit more run-of-the-mill ambiance-wise when compared to the amazing BlackBack Pub across the street and the new Prohibition Pig nearby. Lots of beers on tap, also more accessible in the flavors they offer. Fewer strong ales, fewer rarities, but still more than enough quality brews to keep you busy for a few nights when in town. It’s always a good idea to walk in and see if they have anything different from the previously mentioned bars, but apart from that, I admit The Reservoir can’t beat BlackBack, especially if the owner is behind the bar.

A long elongated bar on Main Street, with skiing and brewery paraphernalia, with good pub grub (had the pulled pork sandwich with NC vinegar sauce), 38 taps of middle of the road micros and a few interesting offerings, but definitely a nice pub in such a small town (although they will have competition from the Pig and the Black Back). They do have a nice Vermont Sampler: 4 X 5 on tasters for 6$.
