Another good pub in Waterbury. Extensive tap selection with mostly VT options. Bartender was busy serving between the back and front bars so it would go a awhile without seeing him. Food looked pretty darn good. Comfortable pub with plenty of wood and pleasant lighting. A fun spot for a beer.
An excellent bar and restaurant. One section of the place is more restaurant-like, while the back area is the bar, including pool table. The beer range is awesome, with loads of stuff from Vermont. Prices are highly competitive and they offer flights for Vermont beers. The staff is attentive and friendly. The food is also very good. There are several great food/beer options in Waterbury, and this is one of them. Certainly worth a visit.
Visited on August 20, 2014, for diner. Nice old building, pub like decor inside, there is a patio but it was full. The inside space to eat was limited to high tables and a upper section where there is live music on Saturdays. Beer tap menu fairly solid, half is Vermont stuff. Good bottle list to. The food menu is mostly for pigging out, there was one with two hot dogs buried in chili and fries, and other is a 1 lb burger call the Truck Driver. I was way more modest with my Pulled Pork Sandwich, very good by the way. The service was nice, but are waitress came to see us four times. In all a nice place!
Not sure why I like this place so much. It’s nondescript with old wood floors, a small patio, a long bar which is partially hidden by a room length wall, and wood tables and chairs. But, there’s something charming about it. The food is a really good value and tasted great. Staff was very nice and the selection was excellent as well. Definitely would come back.
Stopped in here twice over 4th of July weekend 2014 with Vinny and Keith. Typical sports bar/restuarant feel, except they have awesome beers on draft. Much like the other Waterbury spots, you can expect to find Hill Farm, Heady Topper and lawsons. They also stock gueuze available in bottles. Small outside area for eating and drinking. Pool table in the back.
Ambiance: Wide open space with lts of tables but very small bar, that held maybe 6 patrons at most
Service: Decent although slightly lax on a slow night especially
Selection: HF, Alchemist here too, same beers are others with one exception that caught me off guard, Bruery Humulus Lager....a solid find.
Value: Pints were a little high here too, bottle even higher than expected or probably should have been
The Res doesn’t seem to be as popular as Prohibition Pig or Black Back with the locals, but it is still quite good. The food is tasty, but not as good as the Pig, but the menu is more diverse which is a plus. The taplist is usually bigger as well with a large sample of many Vermont breweries (including some that should be excluded in my opinion). I like this place a lot.
