We were accompanied by our Wellington guide, Brian Eerwriter who thoroughly endorses this place. I found it to be a rather quirky sort of spot with all the trendy types youíd usually expect in a place where the toilets are wallpapered with comics. The pricing seemed to be in the typically Wellington zone of upper reaches of reasonable bordering on too much. Two bottled beers (one local, one import) and one cider costing $42. Atilla the Wife was told that as there was no chef on at the time, she was welcome to cook her own pizza, but she declined, purchasing the only available snack they had - Habanero crisps. These were hot bordering on silly and so my recommendation for this place is not based upon its pizza selection, and is fact lessened by its limited and dangerous solo selection of bar snack(s). Lift your game troops.
However, I was there for a good time and in excellent company. There general atmosphere was friendly and itís greatest ambassador, Bruce the Bulldog did the rounds, posing for photos. Points for the dog friendly environment, the lovely people and the good range of beer.

Saturday night - live band, busy, partying youngsters. The music was actually pretty cool and the partying youngsters were also quite cool, but it detracted from a beer focused ambiance. Good range of beers. Staff were pleasant. I imagine it could be pretty good at other times, and it was fine even when busy.

A must try when in Wellington. Much nicer on a summer day when the adjacent park provides a place to spread out. Beer and food selection are above average in general - but can be a little variable.

Centrally located bar dedicated to craft beer, itís a worthy stop in Wellington but I found the ambiance and management of the place a little lacking. Couches in the corner and varied art on the wall (some of it hilariously bad mermaid and pentagram pencil drawing stuff). Seems like a hipster bar on training wheels. Beer is their focus, they offer a dozen drafts and close to 100 bottles but many of the drafts didnít interest me (stout this, IPA that, strong beer this). I did find a new brewery to try, a startup out of Auckland, and no doubt the beer traveler will find the list interesting, but itís the small things that made my experience a letdown: flies buzzing around, cigarette smoke wafting in through the doors, sweat-inducing track lighting, and dirty glassware (first one they gave me had fingerprints on it and smelled like coffee). The details are what make or break an experience, and sadly this bar seems to pay little attention to the details.

Visited here for an event for the Beervana staff, hosted by Cath Lyder. The tap selection was very nice, and included one handpull and one Aussie beer. The interrior is a bit scruffy in a lived-in kind of way. The pizza is not bad. Solid bottle list that bears exploring. Sadly, no wifi.

Brilliant bar. Lovely space inside and out. Great tap selection and a lot of bottles to choose from. Pizza and toasties are cooked up if feeling peckish. Funky tunes. Art exhibitions. Bulldog named Bruce. Love it!
