Sort of a weird place across the street from Mt Goat brewery. Inside is a typical pub with sort of depressing decor and dreary atmosphere. Tap list was pretty extensive and craft beer focused with one or two macros. I found one beer here from Little Creatures that I didn’t see anywhere else in Melbourne. Taps seem to rotate fairly often. Might be worth checking out before or after being at Mt Goat and hanging out. Not at the same level as Local Taphouse in St Kilda, but I see no reason to not stop by if you are on your way to Mountain Goat.

A little run down (the website make sit look nicer than it is), but pretty good taps and a rambunkshus atmosphere. Good one two with the Mountain Goat brewery down the road.

Looks a little old on the inside, but plenty of character and a place you feel comfortable sitting down for a couple of beers.

The tap list was lackluster on my visit but made up with some nice beer in the fridge. Nice pub though and I’m sure they do get some interesting beers on tap every now and then, but maybe I’m just too fussy. It’s so close to Mountain Goat that it’s a must visit when in the area. November 2009 - What can I say? Great tap list on this visit that alone made the trip worthwhile. It really depends on each visit how this place will leave an impression.

Pleasant little pub tucked away near the Mountain Goat brewery. Not much wrong with this place, its cosy, the beers are great (most Victorian micros + red oak on tap), everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Food is great pub grub. Probably the best place in Victoria for beer as of 07’.

What a great pub. 10 beers on tap, mostly micro or craft beers. Fantastic food at value prices. Great wine list (if you care) good service and nice dark, retro atmosphere. This might be my new favourite local pub.

A most welcome addition to the Melbourne pub scene - a place nearly wholly committed to Oz micros. From memory 8 or so taps (inc Coopers, Mountain Goat, Grand Ridge) and perhaps 30 odd beers by the bottle. Well served, good glassware although staff knowledge is a bit hit and miss. Meals are well worth a look a look at, best described as upmarket pub grub.

Update Jan 2009: no real changes to the above: beers are still great and the food v. good. Taps inc. Red Hil Golden, 2 Bros Pils and Growler, Holdgate ESB and Hopinator, 2 x Mountain Goat, Hargreaves Hefe.

What Linc said. The whole premise is that it’s nothing but Aussie micros (though they’ve made concessions to the unadventurous with Draught and Stella on tap.) It’s a great place to have a beer or three, music has always been really good when I’ve been there, and they seem to get the occasional rarity (Red Hill Wee Heavy, for instance.) Lately they seem to have had a lot to do with Potters and Redoak which is very good - I’m not aware of Potters’ beers being available anywhere else in Melbourne (pub or bottle-o.) I like the food too - solid, relatively unexciting pub food but done well.brUpdate: they have Holgate ESB served via handpump now, which is good.

Just over the road from the Mountain Goat Brewery, so of course they serve MGB beers and a whole lot of other local micros that you may not find elsewhere. They have one tap with macro lager and the rest are micro’s, nuff sed. Staff know what they are talking about, meals are standard pub grub but good value. Good place, go there!
