Just about everything you’d want in a good craft bar. They rotate through kegs fairly quickly and have special events all the time. The Belgian bar downstairs is really nice. Food is above average for a bar.

11/29/13. Stopped in briefly while visiting Asheville on 11/27. I would say this would probably be the place I would be hanging out at if I lived in town (in addition to Wicked Weed).
Bright upstairs bar, typical beer bar - signs everywhere, tap handles on the ceiling, etc. Downstairs is darker and nice, more chic, really cool.
Our bartenders were prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Great selection of local beers and others - a pleasant surprise.
I did not try any food (if they have any).
Expensive pours, honestly. Some were half pours reaching some surprisingly high prices.
Overall, I would say this is a must stop in town. I will definitely be back. Make sure to check the upstairs and downstairs taplists. One oddity is you have to tab out before switching floors. Not a huge deal, but just know that going in.

Hung out at the downstairs bar which seemed to be more European beer? Lots of variety of tap... from pale ales to barrel aged Barleywines. Great selection. Bar tender was cool and helpful with out being a douche. Half pours available. Chill atmosphere, with couches or stand around tables. Check it out! you wont regret it!

Casual- lots of wood- front window open to street- a tad stuffy (air movement not vibe). Was fairly busy-- it took a long time to get our first round and they weren’t very friendly, but it got better once we grabbed a seat at the bar. Good selection with a bunch of different craft choices upstairs and the downstairs bar committed more or less to Belgians. Prices seemed on the high side for Asheville.

Well located joint, right across from Green Man on a main drag. Rustic and uncomplicated decor, beat wood floors and breweriana. Nice tap list upstairs and down, though not as local-heavy as I’d hoped (most of their stuff is in distro at home). Good service, attentive and knowledgeable for the most part. Didn’t try the food (which looked like standard grease) but a pretty solid beer bar overall.

I was disappointed. Only had one real shot at trying the place, and it was a Sunday night. Downstairs there is an amazing selection, particularly in bottles. They weren’t particularly busy, but way busier than one bartender could cover. Then when I wanted to order their famous bacon, it took her ten minutes to confirm the kitchen was closed. The next day I carved out a few more minutes to give them a second look, so I walked in the open front door, and was sent right out. Don’t open until 4? Disappointed!

Great bar in downtown Asheville. The decor is neat, but kinda dingy. This is made up for by the comfortable feel, and the busy, but laid back, vibe. The servers were overworked, but were very friendly, when they had the time. The selection is great. Plenty of taps upstairs and down, including several rare and unusual things. The food is surprisingly good. The prices are great, too. All the beer on tap is similarly priced, and they offer half pours. This is a top notch beer bar, and I will return, if I can.

Definitely a "must stop" during a trip to Asheville. Cool, laid back style from the American craft beer bar on the first floor. Even more awesome Belgian bar in the basement. The tap list at the Belgian bar has some rare selections and very high quality. The food was very tasty.
