Stopped in here for lunch earlier this week while I was working in the area. I have always heard good things about Country Garden so I decided to check it out.
It is much bigger than you would expect. Upon entering there are quite a few tables along the front of the store. 3-4 book cases full of warm beer stretch out along the front of the kitchen area. The amount of coolers full of beer in this place is pretty staggering, there has got to be 15-20 of them going down a long hallway.
Service was pretty good. The guy behind the counter was very nice and we talked about beer, and their future plans, for a little while. Selection was pretty good, nothing overly rare or anything but still solid none the less. Food is Chinese with a few american dishes thrown in, albeit with an asian twist. I have always heard about their Chinese cheesesteak so I had to go with that. It was kind of like a cross between a cheesesteak and a sloppy joe. My buddy said it was better in the past but I still enjoyed it none the less.
Overall I think this place is very nice for the beer wasteland that is Lebanon. Once they complete their plans for the near future it should be even better. I will definitely return to see how it has changed.

Lebanon is where I grew up. Iíve been all around this nation when I served. After living in Juneau AK and now moving back to reside in Lebanon for several months to come, this place knocks my socks off compare to places in Juneau. If you want to complain about the prices in this store go to Juneau and write back until then donít complain about the stellar service and well kept clean atmosphere. Mak is your dude. Heíll do his best to keep you satisfied. Prices, itís PA, bro, donít blame the store blame the law or leave the state, itís a big nation. Donít troll my home town!

This place continues to surprise me. When I want to try a particular beer or style of beer, they usually have it.

For ambiance Iím calling this a three because it is much better since they rebuilt the place. I will agree that the old place was dark, dingy, dive sub-shop. This is much nicer, it is well lit a pretty clean for your run-of-the-mill sub shop. Nothing special, but decent. They do allow smoking, not sure if that will change with the smoking law or not, just depends on how much food vs beer they sell. For service a 7, because one of the owners took time to talk to me about their beers and he was stocking and making some recommendations, seemed pretty knowledgable about beer. Selection, a 12, its good for a PA six-pack store...some belgians and micros that are tough to get around here. Nothing crazy, but just some decent, good beer. Food...didnít try it, although Iím tempted. Value, a 5 because their prices werenít great or off the wall and I really didnít see them offering any specials or sales when I was there. Overall, its not a bad place, Iíll definately stop in next time Iím in Lebanon. The biggest thing that you will get at this place is a good selection of domestic micros that changes from time-to-time, so stop in often. FYI...the distributor that is next door carries basically the same beers but in cases...Iím thinking they are probably the same ownership.

For some reason, I seem to go though Lebanon more often that I would like- for business reasons. Before I even discovered Ratebeer, I knew about this place. This is a typical mom and pop greasy food joint that happens to have lots of beers. Prices are typical for a PA bottle shop (high), but I always found goodies to take back to my hotel room. I have not tried the food, and no one has ever offered any help (although I donít need help in selecting beer). Itís not worth a special trip to visit, but it came in handy for me.

Re-rating this place. Theyíve recently overhauled the entire business. Cleaned it up, added a bit more ambiance, and installed taps. The business as a whole has become very craft beer-centric. Excellent selection -- nothing rare, but there are some harder to come by options. They have plans to continue to expand their beer selection, and eventually have events. Prices have improved a bit as well, and are comparable to other bottle shops in PA. Pretty excited to see what the future holds for this place, as the changes theyíve recently made are, to say the least, impressive.
