Snuck out of visit to inlaws for quick.bite here. The main reason was I wanted to try that Golden Faro unfortunately it just kicked and would be back on few days no help to me. Anyways friendly staff and 9 other drafts that were decent. Itís an old school looking restaurant and food was fine enough. Patrons were the types that want to talk to bartender about local issues for hours on end. Iíll probably come back for that faro someday.

As a restaurant this place is nice. Dark wood and excellent atmosphere. As for the beer, I have never had a MadJack brew that was worth writing home about. Just had the Faro...which wasnít even close. And they only sell their beer, which is admirable. The selection of brews is decent enough, but the beers are always watery, have no carbonation and donít match up to the style all that well.

So apparently this place used to be a brewery and then got rid of the brewery only to re-open it. They re-opened it just before I left Schenectady, but they had a pretty good beer and a decent menu. Prices were very competitive. Definitely the best place in Schenectady. I only wish they had re-opened the brewery sooner!

Still a new brewery, so I will give them leeway on their inconsistent brew output. Sometimes the beer is great, sometimes it is barely palatable. Seems like they are still trying to find their style. It is always a nice atmosphere though, and when the beer is having a good day, the sampler is a great deal. Will update my review when I next get back there.

It seems over time their beer offerings have improved. Initially the first crop of brewed beers presented were quite forgettable and sophomoric, but over time, they have begun to truly build some respectable beers that are truly worth enjoying.

The 4-5pm happy hour was increased to $2/pint, which you still canít beat. The beer is pretty good but the food is just ok in my opinion. Great place to chill after work from 4-6pm.

The deal here is Happy Hours M-F, from 4-5pm, all pints are $1.50 (yes, thatís NOT a typo) from 5-6pm, the price goes up to $2/pint. After 6pm, it reverts to $4.00/pint. Superb deal, for a quite classy, yet casual ,ambiance. Best choices are the 8% Imperial Stout (actually served in 12oz glass) the German Alt and the Porter. Also had a ok Steam beer and one I didnít like (Brown Ale)(tasted too honeyish) did not sample the Raspberry Wheat or the Golden. Very worthwhile venue WARNING!! ITíS CLOSED FOR GOOD!!!! (2007)

This is a small restaurant and bar with a jazz club upstairs. The club has a cover but the bar/restaurant is free. They had 3 in house brews when I was there, the pale ale was reviewed by me. They also had killians and coors light on tap. Itís a nice litttle place to get an average microbrew and hear some good jazz, pretty cool spot.
