60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | March 15, 2012 Extremely small store with small cooler selection. High gravity only and nothing I have not seen in other local stores. Not really worth a stop in my opinion | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Suttree (131) Knoxville, Tennessee | November 26, 2011 Tiny little place next to Greenlife. Selection is OK, I guess - Hi-grav only (Stupid Tennessee laws). Prices were a little on the high side. Staff seemed friendly. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Shag (68) Chattanooga, Tennessee | October 26, 2011 A hole in the wall literally next to Greenlife. The only store of I know in Noog that just does high ABV beer and wine only. It is also gets brownie points for having most of the selection cold. A rarity in this town. Selection is good considering the size with no macro swill. Staff has always been friendly. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 BeeriedEyed (11) | June 24, 2011 Very poor selection of beer. Very awesome selection of wine. The wine is over priced but I don’t know if you could find it anywhere else around here. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 11/20 elgiacomo (7) Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia | January 12, 2010 Didn’t even realize this would be a separate entry here when I did my review for Greenlife Grocery.
The Vine is the small wine/beer store adjacent to Greenlife that sells beer over 6% ABV. The beer here is relegated to one corner where you’ll find a fair selection (good for the city of Chatt), of high-abv imports and domestic craft beer. A bit better selection than Riverside. Prices are a touch high, but not unreasonable. Store was clean, and the employee was friendly and helpful. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 lithy (156) Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania | June 30, 2009 Great over six selection, better than Riverside. Small little store but plenty available in singles mostly. Picked up a few things had a chat with the guy working who convinced me to grab a Saint Somewhere Saison Athena. Prices seemed more competitive than the under six grocery side. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Butters (168) Richmond, Virginia | June 30, 2009 Stumbled in here after noogfest. The manager was really cool and let me in to check out the selection even though he couldn’t sell me anything due to it being a sunday. Pretty small selection, but the store is really tiny, and apparently, has most everything available in the Noog. I was impressed to see the imperial tommyknockers. And the low-alc side has a good selection, so this is definitely the place to a stop. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | March 30, 2009 This is the high alcohol side of Greenlife which due to TN laws has to be seperated from the actual grocery store. There is a fellow who has been working every time I’ve been here. He is very knowledgable about the products, friendly, and helpful. The selection is the best as far as over 6% beer goes in Chattanooga. Check my rating for Greenlife for anything else I may have missed. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 brentfeesh (80) Gadsden, Alabama | September 3, 2008| Updated July 28, 2009 I stumbled across this place as I was trying to look for a new grocery store in Chattanooga. This store is right in the middle of a new brick shopping complex just up the road from River Side Spirits. It’s attached to the grocery store (green life I think), but is separate and it is fairly small. However, what he is offering more than makes up for the size. He has a very nice selection of high end spirits and what appears to be a thoughtful selection of wines. The beer selection is as good as I’ve seen in Chattanooga. He really has an excellent selection of brews from overseas and has worked hard to get the local distributors to improve on the selection of available US craft brews. At the time I went, he had obtained some excellent offerings from Stone, a rare Scotch Ale release from Mean Time, and many other goodies too long to list. The Manager, Chris, was helpful, knowledgeable, and is really on his game. You won’t fine a better store right now in Chattanooga. |
