6/18/06: Much less hectic. Much fewer 3Fís taps on. Interesting that they serve Stone Ruination, 1 of the top competitors to Dreadnaught. Garbage fries are oustanding. Pizza is different; not bad, just not my favorite. 5/6/06: My ratings are likely tainted due to my 1 and only experience from Dark Lord Day. Having been in the first 3rd of the line to get my beer, I figured when I was done that I would be ahead of the curve getting brews in the brewpub. Nope. Place was full, although not unmanageable. However, they had only 1 bartender working. I stood patiently at the middle of the bar, while the bartender walked from 1 side of the bar to the other and back again over and over again without noticing me. I frequently tried to verbally get her attention to no avail. Finally, another bartender came and another 15 minutes later I had my first beer. Iím sorry, but that is completely inexcuseable. Youíre expecting 400 people for this event and you have 1 bartender, and then only 2?!? The plates of food they were serving for $10 were a joke; Iím glad I didnít bend over & grab my ankles for that one. Otherwise, a good tap selection, but overpriced for getting at the source. I can get a bomber of Dreadnaught for a dollar less near where I live than I can get at the brewery. 3Fís is alienating their core customer, & great beer or not, mark my words, it will come back to haunt them.

Not where one would expect a brewpub to be - the middle of industrial park on the outskirts of Chicago. Still, the fesitivities around Dark Lord Day made it the place to be. I did not get a chance to go into the brewpub due to the crowds but it looks to be a nice (if small) set up. The beers available at the time were among the best in the world - Dreadnaught on cask, Barrel Aged Dark Lord, Alpha Kahn and a few others that are solid but not quite Top 50. Next time I go through the western side of Chicago I will go when it is not quite so crazy.

AMBIANCE: Nice brewpub, although my wife wasnít too fond of the Playboy magazine enframed on the wall. Having Strange Brew being played was a pleasant addition. SERVICE: Solid, although food took awhile to arrive. SELECTION: Of course this is excellent, although it would be nice to have an updated tap list on their website. FOOD: Best Iíve had at a brewpub. The Muffaletta sandwich was outstanding. OVERALL: Solid.

APPROXIMATE 1ST ANNIVERSARY RE-RATE:
Overall, FFF is still the place to go for what got you into this lifestyle in the first place (which I think some people have forgotten about). Selection: how about the fabulous in-house lineup and some outstanding guest taps like Schneider Weiss, Piraat, and Stone selections? Food: A great set of well executed sandwiches and a few pricey entrees. Probably need some smaller fare. Atmosphere: like a sci-fi dorkís bedroom with great music playing.
Now for the service Yes, it needs to improve. Generally the place is very crowded and if you sit in the dining room, you will probably get slow service because there are only two people trying to take care of the entire place. They are not Stepford-robo-corporate types that wear pieces of flair so donít expect the clappy-birthday song!. Sitting at the bar is generally your best bet to get both good service and good conversation.
If you are anywhere near the south side it is an absolutely required stop for a beer geek. Stop, enjoy the best beer the community has to offer, and relax. Look for the new orange sign on the building.

Great selection of beers, food offers some very unique options. The bar staff was good, and I think jimbowood had a few too many, because I certainnly didnít see any bartenders pushing 60.

Of the beers on tap (~10), three were good. The others left a lot to be desired. No sampler tray available. Bartender was pushing 60 and seemed like sheíd rather be @ home in her recliner. Food was average @ best. Drove in from Chicago and thought the place was over-rated compared to Chicago spots like Goose Island and Rock Bottom!

Damn was this worth the drive. Service was really good, even got some free beer when they found out we had driven from Ohio to be there. The Garbage fries really hit the spot, solid pizza. The Plank Chicken smelled amazing when they brought it to a near-by table. Obviously the beer was fantastic. Canít wait to go back in April.

Pretty small place. The service was ok. Beer selection was good. The Food, had something fancy Four Cheese Ale Dip. Nacho cheese in a bread bowl!! Not very exciting. Overall its a place to sit down and drink 3 Floyds beer.... cant go wrong with that.

Not the most atmospheric of places, but incredible beers and solid food make the trip worthwhile. On the food front, the fries are made to order, and the sauces (curry ketchup, 4-ale cheese) are terrific. We also tried sandwiches. Two thumbs up to both the smoked turkey with gouda and the muffaleta. As for the beers, we tried only Three Floyds beers, though the guest line up is solid. Well, but for PBR .... All of the Three Floydsí brews were superb, and it was great getting beers that are not available bottled, such as Bob da Brut, an amazingly rich, heavy Scotch ale with plum/prune notes; a Berliner weisse beer with pomegranate and cherry juice (not your ordinary Berliner weisse), and Broo Doo - 100 IBUs of hoppy goodness. Trying the classics such as Pride and Joy, Robert the Bruce (less sweet on tap than in bottle), and of course Alpha King at their source was a nice experience. If you are in the area, make the trek.
