Beautiful country pub. Fancy restaurant food (and prices - we opted against). Good selection of Rebellion beers, including the mild, all in perfect condition, and delicious. If youíre in the area, do pop in, but fortunately Rebellion are available elsewhere, so you probably donít need to go out of your way just for this place.

Pub has been knocked through into one big barn-like (albeit split-level) dining space, which detracts from the amosphere quite a lot. Huge portions of decent-quality (although not innovative) food can be chosen from the astonishingly extensive and often-changing chalkboard menu - it is slightly pricey for the area though. As previously stated, beer is 6 from Rebellion (including the current monthly and seasonal specials, so as llong as youíve not been there for a month youíre guaranteed something new) - but no guest ales. Staff are young odd-jobbers, but are friendly, professional and efficient enough. Overall? Well itís a restaurant rather than a pub, but with slightly downbeat pub decor. Decent place for the odd meal, safe in the knowledge youíre likely to get a new beer rate in while youíre there.

Good range of Rebellion ales, well-kept, but little else for the beer drinker - mainly a place for food.

Lovely beer - the Rebellion brewery is just down the road. Food was okay - plentiful, but not really top notch; having said that, I was there on Sunday for lunch. Good plan: when they give you a beer bottle with a table number on it, they ask you to take the beer bottle home - so I got myself a nice bottle of Rebellion Red, which should be good. Very busy restaurant pub with not much atmosphere; itís the beer that makes this place.

The main reason to come here is for the Rebellion beers - 6 on tap, of which Iíd not tried three before - all in top condition. Quite busy at lunchtime on New Years Eve, but all the tables were set out for eating (and most of the customers were eating), which doesnít lend a very cosy, pubby atmosphere. Menu was quite extensive (the evening menu is longer than the lunchtime one) but we werenít that hungry so I just had a cheese and ham filled baguette, which was fine but not really a great test of culinary skills. Service was quick, friendly and efficient but a bit let down by the fact that, although the pub was open all afternoon, the staff were busy setting up for a New Years party all around us by the time we were leaving.

The range of food is incredibly vast, at least 30 main courses were available, very little of the menu is what you would call Ďpub grubí. The quality of food is high, and the portions are very generous. The main course prices range from about £8 - £15. While these prices are slightly above normal pub prices, just the bigger portions more than justify the prices, even if you discount the quality. Rerate: Food has gone downhill quite a bit, soggy fish and chips on the last visit. This pub gets top marks from me. Not only were the beers I sampled in top condition (Zebedee, Mild, Smuggler & Turncoat), but the food was excellent and very well priced. I had sausages and mash potato. The meal consisted of some creamy mash potato, topped with fried onions and gravy. The sausages were all large, and each one was different, they were served on a sizzling metal dish, much like those seen in Chinese restaurants. The quality of food gets a 10/10 from me, the beer also gets a 10/10. The only thing that I marked down was the overall rating, as the pubs upkeep is slightly below what you might expect.
