Visited 25 October ’14. Good selection of beers but craft kegs were well over-priced. Not much atmosphere, disappointing overall compared to the other pubs in our crawl.

One of the last pubs on the York crawl. Conveniently located by York Minster. Very quiet on my visit with a range of ales from York Brewery. Solid beers.

Good York Brewery tap stone's throw from the glorious York Minster. Proving there's good beer in heaven :) Yorkshire Terrier is a nice bitter...

Lovely modern pub with small outdoor area at the back and two rooms at the front. Quick, friendly service. Not the biggest choice of beers, most of it from York Brewery, but good even so. Quiet and blessedly free of music. A good place to talk. Overall a nice place and well worth a visit.

Visited on 22/1-2013 on The Jorvik Trail.
Cosy little down town pub, close to the cathedral. Most taps from York Brewery, but guest as well. Tiny beergarden in the back, with a lovely painting on the brickwall.
Friendly, laughing staff and great atmosphere.

A modern style, comfortable and relaxed pub close to the Minster.
The Three Legged Mare (aka the Wonky Donkey) is my favourite of York Brewery’s three pubs in the city centre. It has nine hand pumps and when we were there they had five York beers (including the Wonkey Donkey, brewed especially for the pub) and four interesting guests. If the choice is too daunting you can order four samples of third pints for £3.80.
The eight keg taps are mainly the usual big brewery staples but they also had BrewDog Punk IPA and amongst the 25 or so bottles there are some from York Brewery plus others from Belgium, the USA, Scotland (BrewDog) and Australia (Little Creatures).
It’s a relaxed place with quite a modern feel. There’s an area at the front with comfortable seating, high tops made out of barrels by the bar and at the back and a conservatory, all lit with tea lights. The toilets are downstairs, accessed via a short spiral staircase.
There’s free wifi, a quiz night on Mondays and live music on Fridays and / or Sundays when I assume the bright red upright piano opposite the bar comes into its own.
The place feels a bit studenty, although the average age of the customers when we were there was a bit older and I liked it a lot. The bar staff were friendly, efficient and polite young men. They didn’t flinch when a group of language students came in and a Japanese girl asked for “yellow beer”. She took the Pennine Amber Necker and seemed quite happy with their recommendation.

Modern, light coloured pub not far from the York Minster with a nice conservatory in the backyard; a good selection of local real ales ( in July 2010 they had the Wonky Donkey on tap) is available there. A good stop after climbing the crossing-tower.....

Rather modern, light-coloured pub on one of the busiest pedestrian street of York’s center. The couple of well-chosen old pieces of furniture manage to give the place a warm and friendly feeling. Excellent selection of top beers from the great York brewery. Superb service, a rare young, beautiful red-haired English waitress that seems to enjoy what she does and smiles all the time while throwing a sarcastic joke from time to time. My favourite waitress while in the UK, this has to deserve a 10. Also a couple of solid guest ales from other Midlands breweries. My favourite stop in York.
