This place is beer heaven! My favorite place to go. No Budweiser here. Awesome!

Great place for us beer nerds. Great selection of local VT beers that are top notch. I had some Hill Farmstead and Lawson’s Finest. The place is small with a laid back vibe. Staff is super friendly. Small food menu but what they have is good. I had a killer grilled cheese with some tasty onion soup. Three Penny is at the top of my lists of places to visit when I’m in VT.

This Place is Great, 22 taps, and a good bottle selection. The really love beer and it shows. Haven’t tried the food. They staff knows what they are talking about and loves to do it. They have great beers events as well. One of the best selections in the State.

Love this place. Scott is a fantastic beer host at the taps, guiding us through a selection of beers with which we weren’t familiar, smoothly and politely, all while clearly showing a passion and knowledge of beer.

July 29, 2011. I visited this place earlier this afternoon, having known it was open at noon, I would have had lunch there. The food menu is small but nice, next time I’ll eat there. The beers, alot of good stuff on tap, I hade two of the three Hill Farmstead on tap and they were realy good. No bottle at this time because they had a problem with their basement, but that’s OK, there is to many goos stuff on tap. And the two bartenders where great and knowledgeable. Montpelier is a nice town to viste, this place make’s it even better!

This edit is long overdue! With the addition of more food and great people behind the bar, The Three Penny Taproom has become my go to in Montpelier.

We had 4 beers and a kielbasa with kraut for $33. Not bad for a Friday night in Montpelier trying beers that I’ve never had before. They have Delirium on tap which is a plus. Beers here rotate often so come back every 2-3 months and you’re guaranteed to find something new.The staff was super awesome and friendly and attentive no matter how busy the place got. Seating was hard to find and most people were younger and very very loud but it’s fine because the beers were great. I don’t go out much anymore so noisy bars just don’t do it for me. Easy to find, to park and get in. We still found a seat after 20 minutes of waiting on a Friday night. I’m really surprised that the average beer price was $7. Not bad at all. I can’t wait to go back!

Stopped after a Hill Farmstead beer release for a couple quick glasses of draft. Superb taplist, all the beers we had were in great shape. The food menu was narrow but tasty, value on the beer was pretty good and selection was good as I already mentionned. Lots of Vermont stuff but some other good out of state stuff. Service was really good. Just a great time.

Had my first Houblons Chouffe here. I here they do food some weekends so Ill need to return for some eats in the near future.....

Wonderful place. Wish it had been there when I was living in Vermont. Casual place (at least late afternoon), knowledgable, friendly staff, great selection and good food (though a very small menu daily). Can’t wait to get back to Vermont.
