Visited on a Friday as soon as they opened. Service was good, but we practically had the place to ourselves (which was nice!). Nice tap list and the food was good.

Visited during SDBW mid afternoon, basic wooden place, nothing special, music didnít really add to the ambiance, seemed to be summarily ignored by the serving staff who seemed happier to chat amongst themselves. At least it saved on a tip! Beer selection OK but nothing too spectacular. Overrated.

Visited on Wednesday 12/11/14 around 3pm. No real charm in the venue itself, just a medium sized place with the bar on the right as you enter, wooden floor, table seating, beers listed above the bar. The place was pretty busy and the clientele seemed to be made largely from a local heavy metal crowd. The music was too loud and shit! Crap 80ís music and naff UK stuff, Come on Eileen - really !?! Service generally seemed disinterested but Iíd come to expect this from other reviews and having visited the SF bar so no real shock factor here. Beer selection was good, donít get me wrong, but for a UK ticker I think there were only 6 or 7 new ones for me, seemed to be a lot of Pizza Port beers on the list which, when planning to visit a number of PP venues, werenít of much interest either. Pints only, no small pours - great ! I really wanted a full pint of 8% beer at 3pm with a full days ticking laying ahead! Ok - I can get bars not wanting to piss about with 3 or 4oz pours, but at least offer a 10 or 12oz option as opposed to 16! Overall a let down. Too loud, not that many ticks on tap, crap service, pints only. Living off a reputation that it doesnít really deserve as far as Iím concerned!

I guess I just had my expectations too high. After visiting Maxís in Baltimore, no CA pub that Iíve been to even comes close. But Tornado was smallish. Had about 20 taps going. It was a Sunday night and so was fairly empty. Almost all the taps Iíd had before so I asked for a Hair of the Dog Adam, which was on the tap list. Of course, they didnít have it, so I had to go with a second choice. It isnít that hard to keep an updated list. Loud music. Disinterested server. Iím not sure why anyone would go to this place. I think too many of these CA pubs are living off of their memories.

Nice place with a lot of really good beers. Located in a nice area and easy to find. Visited two times and had very different experiences when it came to service. The guy behind the bar during my first visit was kinda rude, I could not get small samples or flights, he seemed really uninterested in working there. Second time was a lot better. Will visit again.

Not very busy Friday afternoon. Laid back atmosphere. Awesome tap selection and an even better bottle selection with a lot of rarities, especially for us East Coasters. Several Russian River bottles, Almanac, Several Belgian ales. Great food too. Super friendly service to boot.

First letís start with saying Iím a big fan of the SF location...attitude and all...been going there for years...but this was my first visit to this location. Obviously comparisons are hard to ignore. There are similarities and differences for certain. The Dutch door is a welcome familiar touch...along with the look of the Toronado name...all were comforting. Although I went on a Friday it was early so I got a seat at the bar. Bartender and staff were very friendly and helpful (thereís your biggest difference...although its really not a problem in SF if you arenít a either a craftbeer novice or a know-it-all). My goal was a first time taste of Pliney & Blind Pig...score one for Pliney (& Toronado)...but the Blind Pig took 3 more stops that night...haha! (tough work but someone has to do it) This is a great place...amazing beers...especially hard to get (& fresh) locally brewed crafts showcasing the incredible SD beer scene. Over the top bottle list...nice dťcor if not overly memorable. I canít get the draft beer board off my mind...did a lot of staring &! Donít miss this place!

We visited on a sunday night so it was very quiet, which was great cause we could sit on the bar and get recommendations from the bar tender. Service was unlike the SF location, very friendly. Nice people drinking and and generally a very laid back atmosphere. Selection on draft was pretty good but not mind blowing, quit a few things in bottles. Decor inside isnít anything amazing just some beer signs and etc. Overall a great laid-back bar with a great selection.
