Possibly the only place in America where you can walk in on any day of the week and have a top 10 IPA, Pilsener, Black Lager, Sour, Porter, DIPA, Hefeweizen, and Belgian Ale on draft, guaranteed. Also a nice bottle list with some very well-priced bargains, but hard to get them to sell you those bottles (Beatification, Cable Car, etc.). This is one of the best places in the world to have a beer, hipsters and jerk bartenders be damned.

Visited on a Tuesday night in November 2015. Dive bar on Haight St, great range of beer on, music pumping and decent service. Sat in the back room which was fairly quiet, tried a couple of good beers. Itís a good place to go visit but think other places in the city are better.

Visited on a recent trip out to the left coast for beercation. I drank 1 beer and left. The draft lineup was nice and the bottles were great but the place was not merely a dive bar...it was filthy. Like sticky bar and old crust jammed in the crack where the bar was attached filthy with a nasty stench in the air. And I wouldíve tolerated that if it werenít for rude awful service...the guy had the air about him that said "Iíve been doing this for years. Longer than you. And Iím too cool for it which makes me special. Which makes you unimportant." And his service backed it up. A guy who makes a snide comment when you were unaware that they didnít take credit cards (my bad...I live 3000 miles away and after all...it is 2015) and then barely speaks at all in taking orders is not cool, hip, or any other characteristic that he fancies himself. Heís a poor server/bartender and needs to reconsider his chosen profession. I was thoroughly disappointed after being very excited to go there and will never go back.

Stopped by on a Monday evening. Small, dark place with fairly loud music, but surprisingly easy to get a table. Bartender was pretty friendly and service was fast. Prices were decent, and the taplist was solid, albeit not amazing. Only being able to pay in cash is a pain. Definitely worth a stop, but not a place I would visit often if I lived in San Francisco.

Been there during a visit of San Francisco. A very rustic Pub atmosphere, but thatís how I like it! It was quite crowded, but the barkeeper always served us quite fast. Selection is nice and international, but also some locals - many people come here for Pliny I guess.
Seeing a 2014 Cable Car bottle for 60$ to drink on the premises is not that nice.
Taps are pretty cheap for CA. Paid 5$ for the Pliny I had during Happy Hour, would have been 6 otherwise. Definitely one of *the* places to check out in San Francisco.

Went there years ago and remember it well. Lots of craft beers on the chalkboard and busy with a wide variety of folks. Not the cheapest place around but pretty good for picking out craft beer selections.

Visited the 13th February 2015 - This place on Haight Street looks as an institution on the city. With 50 beers on tap, the selection is impressive with beers for all peoples. I was there for the Pliny the Elder on tap. The ambiance is heavy rock and noisy. There is a jukebox where people can play music to get a louder noise atmosphere. People and service is really friendly inside. Price are nice and friendly. About the decoration, the place looks dark and a little bit dirty but thatís may people come! As I wrote on the Zeitgeist. Tornado and Zeitgeist have the same atmosphere.
