Strange night. Atmosphere changed throughout the night. Started nice and cozy, then a bucks turn came through and everything turned prickly. Took a while to defrost after that, but still an interesting night chatting with the owner.

Super small and super charming, it’s literally the corner of a building turned into a cozy little beer venue, where they serve two beers from draft (including the stellar Keesman Herren Pils), and five more bottles from Bamberg breweries. The proprietor Tomas will probably be playing some LPs and chat you up if you find the place open. He closes early when it goes dead, which it does on this side of Bamberg, but this side of Bamberg is absent the partiers and tourists that you find in the center of town. I first came here three years ago and it’s still one of the nicest places to drink beer in Bamberg, and lucky me it’s just down the road from my hotel.

Great spot for a late night drink. Not overly busy mid week but a younger crowd playing cards and chatting. The owner is a real character and was playing some old school records. Beer range was limited but it’s good to know that this bar is here (and still open).

Visited on a Saturday, virtually empty (2 other customers), so not full of ambiance. Beer range was OK if not exciting. At least walking to it keeps you healthy.

A great little kneipe near top of St Michael Cathedral hill. Stumbled upon this place in first days of August 2011. During the stay managed to taste the 7 variants of Bamberg beers and have enjoyable time and chat with the owner, Thomas. The interior was also quite nice with beer paraphernalia. Definitely one of more interesting places. Don’t expect a lot of customers.

Nice little beer specialist bar up the hill near Michaelsberg. Lots of beer swag on the walls. Very attentive service from the owner, Tomas, while seated at the bar. Several of the better Bamberg beers were available on draft (Keesman Pils, yummy). All served in excellent condition. Went here twice over three days and wish we’d made another stop. A nice break from the traditional pubs in Bamberg if you need one.

Nice bar, good laid back vibe but if they’re staying open late you can tie one on a bit. Lots of tin beer posters on the walls and ceiling. They will close early if it’s slow. The beers are a few of the Bamberg standards, but I’ve never had trouble finding something I wanted to drink.

Up the hill towards Michaelsberg, this is a really small but beery place with great atmosphere and service. Their good tap and bottle selection represents all the Bamberg breweries, which is nice. Late nights.
