Resonably priced for Brooklyn. Extra hipster vibe. European (italian) heavy tap list.

Its funny you can take Danish style out of of Denmark but you can you replicate it in the US? Beer great. Design pretty stunning. Ambiance - yeah well - if you like thrash music loud and if you like disdain from the barman if you dare to ask for the sound to be turned down to match the decor - well perhaps think twice. Pity, we’d so looked forward to visiting. Would go again if bar staff polished their act to match what the owner intended. Grunge is not always cool.

Torst has 21 taps that are filled with some of the most special offerings I have ever seen. Most of it is Euro, but think Euro craft (Evil Twin heavy, Birrificio), not just standard Belgian. There is a bit of American offering on draft, and a lot more American available on the bottle list. At first, Torst feels like it could be a snotty beer geek bar, but it’s honestly just a fun, nice place. When a keg ran out, the bartender got on a step ladder and erased the old beer (listed above the bar) and everyone was cheering him on as he wrote the name of the new rare beer being tapped. Also, one cannot forget about the tap system. Every single draft line is temperature controlled independently and has its own set mixture of CO2 and Nitro. They’re serious. But they’re fun. MUST VISIT.

Really a great spot that is well deserving of all of the hype. Clean and homey atmosphere, with plenty of great tap options. Always something unique that you won’t find anywhere else. A bit pricey, but I always leave feeling like a got my moneys worth. A must stop for those visiting NYC.

Visited on 8/13/13.
A: The vibe of the place is pretty cool but basic...nothing flashy or out of the ordinary, a very clean and straight forward bar environment.
Q: the quality of the beers is really good because they dont carry any dogs on tap or in bottles. Very solid selection on both ends.
S: It was a tuesday night when we went and other than a mild surge around 10pm, the bartenders were very attentive, outgoing, and somewhat knowledgeable about what was on tap.
S: Evil Twin Heavy for obvious reseaons although didnt see too much on tap that could not be purchased in local bottles shops. I guess I went in with the stigma about their awesome tap selection that other people had talked about but just didnt find to be the mind blowing experience as previously mentioned. Found it a lot easier to order off of the bottle list than tap list.
V: Paying NYC prices on taps, bottles are obviously higher and over priced in some instances.
Overall, a cool place to hang out and maybe find an occassional Evil Twin release...on of the best places in Brooklyn.

Popped in here with puzzl, feedmecookies, maxxdaddy jessbnjess and j12601 after spending a day at Spuyten and Fette Sau. This is easily the most beautiful bar I’ve ever been in. Custom designed furniture with lots of contrasting wood motifs and carved/polished fixtures. The beer is definitely on the expensive end, but it’s a very well-chosen list and the servers were professional and friendly. Had a loaf of the rye bread (which was amazing - but could have used some sort of butter or savoury spread) and enjoyed it. This is a world class spot - no doubt about that, I hope they can continue with their winning streak.

Located in the middle of Little Poland, this safe haven for thirsty and quality-conscious ratebeerians is a mandatory place to visit while in NYC. Modern, Scandinavian interior, 21 taps, a good selection of (especially Scandinavian) brews, friendly and knowledgeable staff, no nonsense. Pricey? Yes. Cozy? Not exactly. But, hell, man, it is NYC, where you pay for quality and do get it.
