A Bay Area classic and one of the first brew pubs around. Hoppy beers that were probably influential in establishing West Coast style. Classic looking place with slow but friendly service and good pub grub at student-friendly prices.

Had a nice lunch and some flight beers at this place. Flight samples were $2 each (no minimum or maximum). The waiter was also into craft beer and willing to discuss the craft beer scene. I might add that this was right when they opened and he didnít have any other tables so it might be a different story on a Friday night. Solid beers, especially the IPAX IPA and the Stonehenge stout.

Stopped in for lunch on my last day of travel induced batchelorhood. Definitely old school brewpub style, but interesting all the same. Running 8ish of their beers when we were there, all available in 5.5oz tasters if desired. Food was decent, beer was fair to middling, but the staff was pretty good, and I kind of liked the vibe of the place.

To a Big Time regular, this place could not possibly feel more comfortable and home-like. Nice to see what the Big Time is modeled upon. Pretty decent list of taps (their beers only), decent beers, decent food. A decade ago this would have been the bomb. Now, itís been passed up by advances in beer nerd culture, but I still enjoyed my evening there quite a bit.

Visited during Sour Sunday in February 2014. The place was really crowded but I still liked it. Nice old style interior and a friendly service. They had around 10 of their own beers during my visit. Would not hesitate to visit this place again if visiting Berkeley in the future. Located around 10 minutes walk from the BART Station.

Walked here after stopping at Jupiter. We were seated at a booth and were served an interesting sampler of beers. The menu didnít help much as a good number of the beers in the sampler werenít on the menu. They had a couple of cask conditioned versions of their normal beers. They had a pretty decent red ale and good IPA. The Titanium pale ale was probably my favorite though.

The waitress was prompt and courteous and the bill was reasonable. The bartender was nice and asked us our thoughts about the beer, I think he is the brewer. The place was not overly buisy on a saturday afternoon but the patrons were lively and the place was enjoyable.

Update: been back a dozen times since. Always something new on. Also, the sour/barrel fest is awesome. Check it out.

Proper cool place IF youíre in the neighbourhood. Very dive bar feel, but the in house beer is actually very good especially their IPA. Bartender was even wearing a tie but by the end of it he was pissed with the tie off... What a great place, good fun great feel inside the place nice wooden bar.

Cool little brewpub in Berkeley right near Cal. The place is old/OG, and you get that feeling when youíre in there. Everything is wood, pretty much. Service is great, food is great, though the beers can be hit or miss. They have a tons of stuff on tap which is awesome, though only a handful really rotate much.

Been here a few times. A small bar, not a lot of seating. I didnít eat, so canít comment on the food. The beer is good. The service was slow. Not too impressive of a place, but Iím sure Iíll be back anyways.

I get what this place is trying to be but itís just not successful. Wish they would change out their kegs more, switch up the menu... but nothing doing. If I was satisfied with drinking the same beers over and over again, Iím sure Iíd like it more (and its location is so convenient!). I guess with such a steady lineup, the staff doesnít really need to be so knowledgeable about beer...

Large place with a couple of bars downstairs and a small but nice deck upstairs. Jam packed during SF beer week. Wortha look.
