82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 t0rin0 (248) La Verne, California | June 7, 2013 Visited on June 6, 2013.
Not sure I’m even qualified to rate this place since it’s all about sake and I have no clue when it comes to sake. I showed up as they were closing so I only poked around the shelves and fridges for a few minutes and left. What I can say is that they have tons of different sakes, so if you’re in to trying them definitely check this place out. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 BMan1113VR (311) Los Angeles, California | July 13, 2010 This place is quite frankly the best at what it does [period]. The owner, Beau, and another staff member where there to great us. Great customer service. The owner is one of, if not, the most knowledgeable person on Nihonshu that I have ever met. His store reflects that. He knows about ratebeer and had mentioned meeting JoeT before. He is extremely passionate and very helpful in his recommendations. The selection is on another planet. They have everything you could imagine as far as quality sake. Everything. He gets some things that are not distributed in the US, and other things that are restaurant only in CA (the Kubota line). You could easily get two ratings of every sake style by visiting this store, and that is no small task. I stopped in to pick up Daruma Masumne, which appears to be the Holy Grail of Koshus right now. The store is bright and well laid out. Tons of serving vessels and glassware of all shapes/sizes/purposes. Parking is typical for the area (not super easy). Quite frankly the best sake bottle shop I can imagine. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (466) Toronto, ON, Ontario | February 7, 2010 This place is pretty awesome. Beautifully laid out. Arranged (kind of) by style and there are detailed tasting note cards in front of every bottle. I didn’t ask a whole lot of questions when I was in, but the woman behind the counter seemed to know her stuff. I’ve never seen a store like this before. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 bitter (90) Henderson, Nevada | April 10, 2006 i have never seen a sake store like this, nor have ever seen a sake store, overwhelming. better learn japanese or you cant read any of the bottles. a beautiful little shop and a must for a sake fan. kompai. |
