This is cool place to go. It is a father and daughter place that is very small and hard to find. It is worth going to chat with the owners and regulars. They have games to play and books to read. The beers were above adverage for such a small brewer and a neat place to check out if downtown.

Visited late afternoon Wed July 1, 2015. Fairly small, kind of dark place. Was a few patrons at the bar when we arrived. Some off smell too. They had three own beers on, plus a couple of guest taps. Asked to use their wifi, but was asked back what I wanted to drink. Once I did order had to ask again for their wifi password. Only served their own beers as half pints as the smallest serving. Service was fairly bad. Beers were fairly bad to terrible. One had obvious problems with cleanliness, the other seemed to suffer from oxygen problem. Only did sampe two of the beers, and never feel like this is a place I’d go back to. Upon paying was asked how much tips I wanted to add. Others seem to have had better experiences, but if I get both bad service and badly handled beers at the same place, well then I don’t get too excited when there are so many other places around I could choose from instead. Walked over from Pints and then walked from here to Deschutes.

Weird place. 3 of their own brews on tap, 11 guest taps and 2 ciders. Their own beers weren’t that great but the guy behind the bar was friendly and funny. People seemed to have nice time there. There was quite a contrast when we came from too crowded and loud Bailey’s across the street here.

Across the street from Bailey’s but don’t expect the same level of beer. Kind of a cool place, lots of old books line one wall and some cool decorations and pictures. They have 5 taps of their beers but stick to the guest taps which looked pretty solid. Their beers were beyond terrible. When we order the bartender even tried to guide us toward the guest taps but we Doug told me I had to try the worst beers in Portland, I didn’t believe him that there was any bad beer in this city but I was very wrong!

Uninspired beer in an uninspired bar. Over the road from Bailey’s is probably the best thing about the place

My experience here was extremely quick and not pleasant. Went in, ordered a Chernobyl Stout, was annoyed by the loud gangsta rap playing, and sipped about 3-4 sips before being disgusted by the abomination of a beer. My friend and I left our beers at the bar and walked out. No idea how this place stays in business right next to Bailey’s if that beer is representative of their quality.

I’m surprised this place has recieved such a high score.. The place was a cool if you were into drinking horrible beer in an old opium den... There beer actually sucks I had to order a beer for another brewer... I will never go back or recommend it to anyone ...

Across from Bailey’s. A kind of cool eclectic decor, lots of books around. The service was great, and the place was not very busy. Had four beers of their own. Now, the only issue was the beer was bad. Oddly flawed in an obvious way that is surprising considering the Mecca that Portland is. The two hop forward beers I had were extremely bitter in the finish- I mean, big hops are in and all, but this was medicinal and unpleasant. I suggest getting some quality control. Find someone in Portland that understands these things. Pay someone. Find someone that cares and you will make much more money. The location should be great, Bailey’s will being people in.

Was going to stop into Bailey’s, but they were packed, so I jumped in here - this place is right across the street (close enough to jump onto Bailey’s wifi, if that is any indication - like a coffee shop/bookstore inside - dimly lit - full of hipsters that are pretending to know their beer - cozy enough, but their beer selection is pretty lame - a few house brewed beers and four or five local brews - one server, despite how busy they were - some portly gay dude - attentive and quite friendly - probably good overflow for Bailey’s, but, quite frankly, I am surprised they have lasted in this town.

Since Tugboat is a relatively small scale brewery their offerings of their own beers are limited, however they do bring in a great variety of other beers on what I recall as more than 5 taps. In a downtown quadrant of plentiful beer they are a quieter hole which has a calming atmosphere and a relaxed place to drink. It wasn’t quite clear at first that you had to get a beer from the only bartender who was quite friendly and knowledgeable but once that is sorted you are welcome to kick back with a book, a game or some good convo with a friend or two.
