I really liked this place. First off, the reason I visited was that I learned of their $2.50 craft beer night (on select beers) on Tuesdays, then I learned it was only a 15 minute walk from where I live. They have a rooftop bar, which I didnít visit on this occasion, but they make the most of their funky layout on the lower level with an extensive bar space and a couple of tables. Their list of craft beers is impressive, but theyíre definitely known for their whiskey selection - one of the more impressive collections Iíve seen in the city. For a place that has a reputation for being a "biker bar" it was quite laid back and relaxed. The staff was friendly with enough knowledge of the beers to be passable (but I wouldnít necessarily lean on them for recommendations). The food was hearty - although Iíll admit that a lot of plates that were passing me by looked more appetizing than the shrimp poí boy I ordered - but the beer price and selection made up for it in the end.

This place isnít so much a beer bar as it is a bar and grill type place with a good selection of beers if that matters to anyone. Definitely though, whoever put together the tap list knows whatís up and thereís generally a bunch of interesting beer that I havenít tried, including lots of locals. On weekends, if you donít go during off hours, it tends to be really crowded with waits for tables in such. This situation is alleviated somewhat by awesome rooftop seating during nice weather though. As far as the food, it is a really typical mix of slightly upscale American bar food and itís all pretty good. They are also known around town for their bloody marries and their whiskey selection if you are in the mood for curing or creating a good size hangover. Overall, this is one of my more frequent visits around town. My rating for it would be somewhat higher if I were not rating as a beer location and just a place to eat and hang out. The beer selection is really good but there are just slightly better options if your main bag is trying to find new beers.

What an experience this place was. Ambiance is everything here. Definitely a biker esque bar, with the strangest movie on their tvs ive ever seen. Do not bring kids in here. Service was friendly but slow and a bit lacking in knowledge fo the menu. Selection is solid and has some interesting vintage bottles if you can find some something they still have. Food was decent. Fairly pricey for the vintage bottles but I guess it makes sense.

Ambiance is like that of a biker bar with a large bar in a different room from the seating area. Service isnít particular good and can often be quite slow. Selection is surprisingly good as well as a number of vintage bottles that can be had for a price. The burger is solid and there is a decent brunch as well. Prices are fair, though expensive on the vintage beers (as to be expected). Another solid Chicago beer bar.

Iíve been wanting to go here and I finally made it over to try Racer X during craft beer week.
Itís set up like a biker bar, pretty nice inside, incredibly crowded for a Wednesday night.
The selection and quality of the beers was great. They had a special cbc menu, plus the regular menu of bottles and taps, and an awesome reserve list. The reserve list is a great idea with such awesome beers as founders nemesis and several years of dark lord. Its pricey but worth it.
The downside of this place is how busy it is and the service. The bartenders seem knowledge but so nice. I waited 10 minutes for a hostess to put my name on the list for a table and eventually just wrote it on there my self, and our waiter wasnít very knowledgable.
The food was pretty good, they had fired bacon which was great.
Good place for beer, but expect to wait a little and not get a ton of help

This place tears me in multiple directions. They do have a pretty extensive and high quality tap list that runs the gamut. They also have a high quality burger as well. Probably the second best whiskey selection in the city behind Delilahís. Plus, the roof top is key. They also have a vintage cooler wherein you can get Dark Lord among others, albeit at an inflated price.

Love to go here over the summer, nice roof top patio. Selction is O.k. smetime they might have something secial. Biker bar. Smut and eggs on saturday night (porn on tv). Burgers are great.
Re-rate- Well over 2years of going here. Love the burgers here. Probably in my top three burger places in Chicago. Selection is great too. they seem to get alot of one offs or special tap only brews. Rare bottle list is also a plus- just recently there (05/27/11) and they had 09&10 Dark Lord, Alpha Kong (the only place Iíve seen it in the past two years), Utopia pours at $30 each and lots of other rare treats. Awsome place.

20 really good, quick rotating taps in a friendly place with a bad boy biker theme. We forgive the slightly fake feel, since once it wasnít just a theme, but the way it really was. Now itís evolved into a beer destination. A renovation has moved the small bar from the back room to a huge curving bar up front. The more unusual local or regional varieties can often be found here - a Flossmoor, the special Goose Islandsí, something different from Bellís, Dark Horse, etc. Worth repeat visits for the very quick tap rotation - bartenders, menus and tap handles can never keep up. Fortunately 1 out of 2 bartenders will know their beer, unfortunately none of the wait staff or anyone else usually does. Food is much better than average bar stuff. Great roof deck in better weather.
