(visited in in July 2009 and 2012) One of the most atmospheric and authentic places I have ever supped beer in. Walked in with friend as it opened and had a beer in 45 secs. Did not eat; VERY limited food menu. No noise other than talking and the thud of beer glasses landing on your table. Kozel beer (tankovs sytle) is the thing to have here. Prices are kept low b/c it is "owned" by a group who want the locals to come not the mass of tourist hordes. Do not go mess this place up.

This is a hole in the wall place with good beer served in proper glasses. Steep prices for Prague. This really get the feeling that you are back to communist days or the beginning of the last century. Tables are old and worn. An archaic wall painting from when the place opened and no more decoration. Still this is a place to go and enjoy good beer and talk to friends. No disturbing music or TV.

Visited for the second time: 5th Oct 2014. Not really worth seeking out unless you are in that area of Prague doing your sightseeing bit. Basic single roomed, small hall. two beers on tap and bits of food. Seems original and authentic, pleasant, quiet (on both our visits, some 15 years apart) and a good resting point if you’ve walked up from the river staring at buildings and views all morning.

Old school Czech pub, tank Urquell and Kozel. Rather crowded, more locals than tourists it looked. No english spoken, but then again how much do you need to order a glass of beer. Cheap prices and good beer.

Visited July 2012. This is the epitome of a local bar. Two old men as waiters, one man pours the beers, the other man serves them! No advertising for the bar, so we walked by several times!!! Dark benches and tables, very small, very cosy. If you visit the castle, come here for a couple of pints.

Have visted on and off over the years. As a tourist you are more or less tolerated by the staff, who seems to enjoy their local patrons more than the occasional thirsty tourist. Very genuine place though, and very nice to find one such as this in the more touristy parts of town, instead of heading more to the suburps that I’m more used to doing. Haven’t eaten here, not sure I’d try, but you can get nice beers at low prices in a Czech style pub atmosphere frequented more by Czech than tourists. Nice to swing by after visiting the monastary brew pub, before getting the tram back to town.

Hardly any tourists, only "grumpy old men" serving and drinking Kozel beer. I like that! I am not a big fan of the bottled Kozel beers, but here you get excellent Kozel Tankova - fresh and unpasteurised. (Visited 22nd February 2012)

I was in Prague during summer 2008 and this place became a favorite haunt of ours. One of the few places we found that served Kozel at the time. Their svetly right off the draft was divine at the time, so much better than the canned stuff abroad. I was just a beer novice at the time, but anyways. A very nice, classic Czech beerhouse atmosphere with excellent and quick service though not a word of English was spoken I think. Selection of course wasn’t very good. Food was very simple and not that great. Very cheap though. Two euros bought you a filling plate of sausage and potatoes as well as the svetly (or cerne if that was your choice) to go with it.
