This is more about the feel than the beer. The beer’s great, but the place is greater, a little piece of history preserved for us to experience. Staff were efficient, prices were high, but it was worth it.
The icone among Czech pubs. The only brewpub that survived communism era. The same beer is brewed for decades, it isn’t the best one in Prague, but it has tradition, great reputation... Yeah, this pub and this one beer are Czech cultural heritage.
The atmosphere is a bit spurious now, for tourist. But never mind, it recall beginning of 20th century, as we envision: cabaret, harmonica and dark beer. One of must see, if you are in Prague.
Obsługa miła, pomocna i wesoła.
Do wyboru tylko 1 piwo - Flekovský Tmavý Ležák 13°.
Możliwość zakupienia pamiątek związanych z pubem.
Podsumowanie Warto przyjść ze względu na atmosferę. Będąc w Pradze pozycja obowiązkowa.
This is not a pub, it’s an homage to the spirit of survival. It is over-touristed, 59 Kcs for 0.4 litres of beer is quite expensive even for a small icon and the blunt efforts of the waiters to sell food, sweet liqueurs and merchandise are gnawing. But all of that misses the point. This place is a global treasure and should have a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation slapped on it asap. It has survived in one way shape of form for 500 years and none of us or the institutions and beliefs we cherish are going to come anywhere close to that. It a hero dressed in black. The beer had remained constant for 40 years until the old brewer retired and the new guy has kept it as ever was - at risk of having the old guy knife him in his sleep. It is all the beers around that have changed. This is also one of the great bierkellers of Central Europe, a must on every world beer traveller’s list. It epitomises the Czechs expression from before the Velvet Revolution, "First survive. Everything else is luxury."
Very nice ambiance. The whole stay I was waiting musketeers to jump out from somewhere. Or crawl out from somewhere. They serve only 1 beer here so that’s a bummer. But beer what they serve is brilliant!
Go there for their very nice dark lager. Its so smooth and nicely filling. The waiters speak decent English and try to get you drunk with their trays of shots and mead at high prices. No way that they help you split a bill. No English is spoken then. Have many tourist gifts in their shop. Highest prices of all places ( 20) I visited in Prague.
