80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 no23reason (1) , Czech Republic | May 14, 2013 Legendary pub with really great atmosphere. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 3/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 TheCametron (20) , Czech Republic | February 7, 2013 A historic pub in Prague 1. Unspoiled with a frankly excellent atmosphere. They only have 1 thing - unpateurised Pilsner. It’s in good condition and it keeps coming. As soon as you finish a glass, they replace it with another. You need to stick you beermat over the empty to indicate that you’re done. The little nods and a flash of fingers to indicate how many you’re wanting allow you to cloak that you’re not a local which means you blend in. The place is jammed with Czechs. A refreshing thing in Prague 1 particularly this close to Charles Bridge. This was a truly excellent Czech pub experience. I’ll be back again and again. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 1/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 Lore (25) Budapest, Hungary | December 8, 2012 despite the poor selection this is a great place
added value: HRABAL | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 jorge76 (55) , Italy | August 20, 2012 The best place in prague.. A "pub" as it used to be in the past time .. The best tankovy pivo in town .. Two rooms with long tables , good food and however the central location still a locals pub ... Obviously you’ll find some tourist too (like me) but they tend to be rude with big groups or couple in honeymoon ... When you take (if you find) your seat you get immediately your pilsner tankovy at it’s best condition .. No other drink is served except for water ... You have to understand this place for appreciate it .. We ended there in a early afternoon and started to drink hardly .. After a couple of hours we were almost local in there and we did the same for three days .. The last night we closed the pub with the staff and we went on drinking with them ... Great !!! | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Christian (197) Odense, Denmark | August 16, 2012| Updated December 15, 2012 A must-visit place. The service is quick and efficient, but it is indeed quite rude to tourists. The Pilsner is in excellent condition | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 geauxT (34) Virginia | July 29, 2012| Updated December 15, 2012 A personal all time favorite. It’s crowded; loud; grumpy and old school. In two visits I was on the young side (and I’m over 40). If it’s packed get one or two "standing up" by the taps. A place for locals; with tourists barley tolerated. I love it! | 58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 nador (10) Praha, | February 21, 2012| Updated December 15, 2012 This place should be seen at least once by every beer lover or people interested in Czech pub history. Is one of the few traditional hospodas left in the Old Town and stubbornly defends its traditions. This means that foreigners, tourists or in general non-stamgasts are not particularly welcome. Nothing too bad, but don´t expect the waiters pushing people away from a table for your group of 15 to squeeze in. No way. However, the Plzen pivo is good and crispy and it´s worth going there, possibly in a not-so-busy time (between 3om and 5pm for example) just to sit close to where the great Hrabal drank and wrote. | 62 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 10/20 YULbier (250) Montreal, | January 24, 2012| Updated December 15, 2012 Ambiance: Loud, smoky and fun. Service: Rude (with non-regulars) but efficient. Selection: Tank Urquell uniquely, but what a beer!. Food: Didn’t eat but supposedly they have invented the "pivni syr" (beer cheese). Value: Normal price for Prague, which means f-ing cheap for a North American. Overall: Now that it’s crossed off my list, neeeext. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Cuso (94) Bratislava, Slovak Republic | October 20, 2011| Updated December 15, 2012 Traditional place for beer in center of town. It’s hard to get place in evening or late afternoon, but it’s worth to visit the place. Enjoy he atmosphere. In paste time I visited quite often Prague and it was must to visit the place with my colleagues. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 10/20 Camons (129) Hasselager, Denmark | August 2, 2011| Updated December 15, 2012 Beerbar in the center turist area of Prague, filled with a mix of locals and turists. Very crowded at 18.00 a monday afternoon, lots of noise and lots of smoke. Hard to give a rating for selection, since the only carry one beer ( Pilsner Urquell ) wich on the other hand is excellent. Ill proberly go agian to have a glass or to when back in Prague, but to smoky and noisy to be a really pleasent place to hang out for a drink. |
