66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 WASW (13) , | January 21, 2012 Nice pub, in the summer the patio and garden can be a great place to relax with a pint. Reasonable and regularly changing selection of cask ales. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Egg4Goff (12) Sheffield, England | February 6, 2011 Nice pub with a good quality range of real ales. These are mainly sourced from the excellent Thornbridge brewery. It does feel like it good do with a bit of neatening up but it is a good place to grab a few pints. A nice big conservatory at the back adds much needed space and light. Pop in if passing. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Gethinbeer (107) Musky, Nova Scotia | August 17, 2010 The pub had a private club feel to it. I dont mean a seedy place, more like a private university club. The pub is hard to find. The bar had a selection of Thornbridge ales from Derbyshire. The bar staff seemed a bit cold at first but warmed up and gave some information about the beer after a while. Nice place, mix of people, freindly. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 bierkoning (229) La Tropica, Netherlands | July 28, 2009 Large pub with a good range of cask ales, with the emphasis on Thornbridge. I was sorry to hear that they didn’t have Thornbridge bottles, but had a good time.
Mixed crowd. Studenty but not posh. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 thewolf (139) Kolding, Denmark | July 25, 2009 Was right next door to our hotel. Quite large with both an indoor area, a conservatory and a garden. Lots of seating. Very friendly staff. At least one Thornbridge beer on cask, but often more than that. The crowd was a good mixed bunch of regulars and students from around the world, so I didn’t feel totally out of place. Very nice. Cheap. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Borresteijn (141) Amsterdam, Netherlands | July 23, 2009 This bar was close to our hotel. Visited during RBESG 09. Brightly lit and fairly large, but cozy bar. Lots of wood and carpet, large wooden tables to sit on. Popular with a mixed crowd. Good Thornbridge beers on tap and some micros. Enjoyed some Epic Halcyon here and Magicdave6 sleeping. Definitely worth a visit. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 haddonsman (56) Derby, England | February 21, 2009 It’s the wood and the plush and the mirrors and the hush and the just-off-the-circuit and the away-from-the-meatrack and the gentlemans club feel of the place that makes the University Arms the finest place to prop myself up in at the end of a long beery day up and down the Valley. And... Thornbridge. Job done. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 SilkTork (72) Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, Wales | August 7, 2008 The Uni Arms is totally unexpected - you’re walking down an ugly and noisy ring road with ugly modern buildings, when you bump into this large, sedate and charming Edwardian building. A little faded to be sure, and that adds to the rather splendid old British Empire / Oxbridge atmosphere which is totally at odds with the industrial heritage of Sheffield.
Five casks, two of them Thornbridge. The beer garden is an oasis of green, peace and charm in the wasteland of broken brick, concrete and weeds that makes up the forgotten battlefield of Sheffield. Unexpected and all the more delightful for that. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 evilempire (22) sheffield, England | March 7, 2008 another new addition to the circuit, this was formerly a university bar, now open to everyone, popular with university lecturers. a large room with smaller side room and conservatory. four handpumps serving micros, always including at least one from Thornbridge Hall. Reasonably priced and filling food. |
