Visiting Chicago and staying in the Logan Square area, I found Vas Foremost to live up to expectations. Has a huge selection of craft beer and tons of local Chicago options like Pipeworks, Half Acre, Finches, etc. I ended up walking back to the apartment with a huge box of bombers!

2010: Huge expansion, 6-8 more cooler doors of craft bombers and imports. Best selection in a 2 mile radius.
This is the best beer spot in Logan Square. The majority of the beer is in the coolers, check out the 2 doors of bombers and 750s on the end corner. Its a diamond in the rough, but the beer buyer is doing a great job here. Seasonals, good range of Belgians, plenty of micro bombers. Lots of cooler space devoted to imports. Small selection of glassware, and generally someone around to help out.

Not the biggest selection in Chicago, but if you live in the area they carry a fair number of good beers and other spirits. The prices are fair and they have a good 30 linear feet worth of cooler space dedicated to beer. Probably the best place in the Logan Square area.

Just about across the street from Revolution, so itís an easy stop if youíre headed there. Looks kind of like a typical crappy liquor store from the outside, but inside they have a massive beer selection. Lots of six packs and singles from local and regional breweries Half Acre, Revolution, Goose, Pipeworks, Three Floyds...etc. More sixers than singles (mostly large format bottles for that). They also had a decent selection of imports and out of the area beers...saw a number of the Eclipse variants, for instance.
Only real complaint here is that maybe the prices were a bit on the high side. But convenient location near Revolution and good selection.

Vas Foremost is probably the best beer & liquor store in Logan Square. The coolers have a solid selection of domestic, import and very local brews, including plenty of Pipeworks/Revolution etc. They will receive a small amount of rare items too, so always worth checking in on. Would be great with a 12oz singles/mix a six option but you canít have it all. The staff are always very friendly.

i never would have guessed the selection contained inside this store existed. one of the north sides better spots, huge selection of american craft as well as belgians and germans. prices are not the greatest but thats to be expected. found some haand bryggeriet! after i saw about 50% of the coolers i was satisfied, i had no idea they continued aroudn teh corner with more in store. definately worth a stop if in the area, and if you found yourself stuck in the area and in need of a drink, you will find plenty here to keep you happy.

I used to frequent this place when I had a buddy who lived nearby. That was several years ago and the selection has improved quite a bit since then. Lots of bombers on hand and refrigerated to boot. This is right across the street from Revolution Brewing so if you stop by there but you might a well stop by here. It is more expensive than Binnyís and Iím not sure thereís much you can get at one place and not the other so if youíre already taking trips to Binnyís regularly this isnít worth going out of the way for.

Ambiance? Does this matter? Enter through metal barred door on to grimy linoleum in to harshly fluorescent lit bodega. Along the back wall and one side are coolers full of a great selection of domestic and import micros. FFF, Founders, Great Lakes, Port/LA, Goose, and the norms are all represented alongside Laughing Dog, Boulevard, Big Sky and other breweries who are less represented in this area. Nobodyís ever offered to help me find anything, but Iíve never wanted any help. Cashiers donít seem to know anything about beer, but they donít need to IMHO. Solid selection, decent prices, no bells or whistles. Update (9/21/12) Stopped in on my BCS journey around town. They were charging $4.50 more than Binnyís for a four-pack. Downgraded "value from 8 to 4.

Very much an urban liquor store, quite a few coolers of beer and racks of craft. Decent German selection, a lot of craft bombers. Overall a decent selection. The store is located directly across the street from Revolution, so its certainly worth stopping for a local and out of towner alike. If you are looking for something rare or special, this is probably not your place.

A bit of a diamond in the rough across the street from Revolution. Tons of bombers, everything is refrigerated. They also have a few Polish meads as well. Itís location is convenient and the selection is pretty good. Iíd check here if you canít find what youíre looking for at Binnyís because they sold out.
