50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 tderoeck (126) Gent, Belgium | September 27, 2012 The place is located conveniently near the old town centre. Despite being pretty crowded, it wasn’t really cosy like a busy place can be. Service was horrible at first. The waitress ignored us two times, the 3rd time had indicated that she would come, but instead started clearing the tables, washing them, going in and out of the kitchen 2 more times and still not taking our orders. Friendly was not in her vocabulary. Luckily she was replaced after half an hour by another very friendly younger waitress who totally made up for her predecessor. The selection is pretty small, 4 beers only, despite the fact that they seem to produce more styles, and not only seasonals. Food was very mediocre. We had a sausage / bread platter, but despite being a big sausage fan, I didn’t like it. Maybe the hot food is better? Overall: it’s worth to stop by if you are in the area, just to get a few ticks, but I’d recommend eating at Kulturbrauerei instead. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Nachovega (3) Mannheim, Germany | August 20, 2012 I love this place near the Bridge. They have their own beer and an interesting selection.
They offer also food and it is a nice place to have a bratwurst plate + beer dinner :) | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 TimE (216) Tokyo, Japan | June 24, 2012 I thought this place was very average. The Vetters 33 is def worth trying, but other beers were very lackluster. Service was very prompt and prices good. Def a student hang out, however, compared to Kulturbrau this place is not worth going to. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 kjc51478 (32) Cologne, Germany | June 22, 2012 Nice little traditional-looking brewpub in the heart of old town Heidelberg. Ambiance is typical from what you’d get from a German brauhaus with a slight microbrewing flair. Service and experience were average. The real draw of this place is the renowned Vetters 33, which was fabulous. Other than that, the brauhaus offers several other very good regular and season German classics. This is definitely one of the best stops in the northern part of Baden-Württemberg and a must visit for German beer lovers. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 shrubber85 (164) Greenville, Indiana | May 20, 2012 Great place down a small alley towards the bridge. Nice atmosphere - tables to accommodate even larger groups. Nice beers and great food - the huge sausage plate is a site to behold. Great place. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 erothvt (1) Fort Meade, Maryland | April 30, 2012 A must visit when in heidelberg. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | March 9, 2012 This was a nice stop after visiting the castle. The interior is large and open with huge wooden tables. There were 4 house beers available, all of good quality. The service was more attentive than most of the places we have been. This is a good place to stop as you make you way from the castle back through the pedestrian area. | 48 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 8/20 Hugi (6) , Germany | November 23, 2011 Nice looking, quite small, brewpub in the old city center of Heidelberg. Nice and fast service. Quite expensive, though. At the time I was there, they had a Helles, a Christmas-Bock, A Hefeweizen and the Vetters 33. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 northropfrye (97) Steinbach, Manitoba | August 31, 2011 A great place to drink in Heidelberg. Vetter 33 is a must try brew. Great German food here, too. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 smith28 (2) , Germany | April 3, 2010 The beer is good, but the real draw is pairing is with the excellent German cuisine. Order your own own table-side dispenser (it gets its own seat) of the Vetters Pils and order the Big Plate...there’s enough Schnitzel, chicken, sausages, and fried potatoes (awesome) for the entire group. Not much in value, but it’s a great place to eat and drink. |
