The owners have introduced themselves on a few occasions and they are very helpful and accomodating. The beer selections are great and the food is top flight yto. Add a great atmosphere and you have a winning combination. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 nearbeer (165) Knoxville, Tennessee | February 22, 2013 Shopping mall exterior gives way to a cozy bar and separate dining area. Sat at the bar with almost everyone else in the place at happy hour and beyond, so service was good at first but slowed a bit when they got deluged in the bar. Draft beer selection is not huge, but very well selected and they have a fairly extensive bottle list as well. Food was excellent and one of the few who should be allowed to call themselves a Gastro Pub. Beers are high quality but a bit overpriced. However, the food pricing is actually a pretty good deal for the quality presented. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 sonnycheeba (61) Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland | November 24, 2012 Nice gastropub in Columbia. Nothing special from the outside, but the interior is spacious and well designed. Thoughtful beer selection, but a bit on the safe side. Food is the standout here and everything I’ve had was delicious. Good apps also make this place a good choice for a happy hour gathering. Great staff and management with occasional beer dinner events. | 98 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 JDBaker11058 (29) Maryland | July 26, 2012 Ambiance: In a strip mall, so from the outside it looks like a frackin’ Ruby Tuesday. Inside, decor is awesome, with lots of dark wood, brass, and sweet-ass wallpaper. Service: Pretty darn good. Server noticed me taking notes about the beers and directed me to their beer club. When I signed up for that, Victoria herself came out and chatted me and the wife up; she’s a super nice gal and clearly loves her job. Selection: 24 rotating taps (including Rodenbach Grand Cru and Weihenstephaner Vitus), which include some harder to find items, plus a massive but well-organized bottle list. Top notch. Food: HOLY CRAP BALLS this place has good food. Started with the poutine (duck fat fries, gruyere cheese, duck confit, brown gravy), and my wife almost lost a hand coming between my fork and this platter of heaven on earth. Steak with some BAD-ASS bacon/cheddar/chipotle grits that will punch you in the mouth with awesomeness. Value: You pay for quality, my friends. Everything is slightly upscale, although the beers are relatively reasonable (and offer 12 or 20 oz pours, as well as flights). Appetizer + 2 entrees + dessert + 5 beers + beer club membership = about $160. Overall: Awesome. If you are in Columbia and miss out on this place, you should hate yourself just a little. It’s right down the street from Perfect Pour, for crying out loud. Make an afternoon of it! | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 strongpieman (97) Mount Airy, Maryland | June 17, 2012 Stopped in for the first time for a beer. Selection was very good and I appreciated how they served 12 or 20 oz for many of the beers. I didn’t have the food but will say that it looked good. Service was fine and geared towards a nice restaurant experience. I was surprised about how unfriendly the place felt to have a beer -- hostesses were stiff and unwelcoming and the decor seemed geared more towards high end dining. In whole it works because of the selection, but not a place for simply enjoying good beer. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 pras (38) Maryland | February 25, 2012 Pretty close to perfect. Beer selection is amazing and food is great as well. The lobster grilled cheese is a must! | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 RodGillum601 (10) Severna Park, Maryland | January 9, 2012 Great food and killer beer selection. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | December 29, 2011 A nice gastropub conveniently located in Columbia. From the outside, it looks like it could be another strip mall parcel, but once inside, you realize you are somewhere different. The owners are serious about their food and beverages. This is a family-owned establishment, with all four contributing daily. I highly recommend the duck fat fries. The beer selection is thoughtful and fresh. There are beer dinners every month with wine dinners thrown in occasionally. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 BLuke01 (4) Frederick, Maryland | December 13, 2011 This is a great stop if you want to try a huge selection and talk to some knowledgable folks about beer. The place is a bit on the darker side full of wood and brass. Food is some of the best I have had at a pub, lobster grilled cheese with duck fat fries is a favorite for lunch when I am looking to get away from work. They have an amazing "beer book" full of bottles sorted by country/state. It is actually almost overwhelming with all the choices. |
