Good pub, with a cracking original interior and roaring fires. Decent ale selection going at any given time, though the prices have gone up steeply in the past two years. Excellent selection of Scottish and Irish whisky however. Can get uncomfortably busy at times, and the fact that the fires are *always* going can make it unbearable for more than one or two drinks.

Two-roomed traditional pub with five real ales mainly from micro breweries, all at £3 per pint. Stained woodpanelling, fireplace and matching wallpaper & curtains. Display of carvings and porcelain mugs above the bar. Friendly staff and very pleasant locals who were entertaining and welcoming. My pint of Wylam Gold Tankard (4%) was excellent. Nice toasted sandwiches too. You will be very glad you visited. ADDITIONAL NOTES: Bed and Breakfast accommodation offered - please click on their website link for info.
