74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 Stoutgirl86 (13) Kitchener, Ontario | March 31, 2012 My favourite place. Beer selection terrible, but they have alway includes something local craft brews. Food cannot be beat and the ambiance is amazing. But this is a spot for the ambiance, not finding something new to drink. |
66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 JesseM (42) Ottawa, Ontario | August 10, 2008| Updated February 9, 2013 Located in the Victoria Park Heritage District of Kitchener, Ontario, just outside the downtown core. This somewhat small restaurant offers live music from various local artists virtually every single night, with different specialty nights featuring different artists. Patio is very comfortable with a great view of Victoria Lake (100+ old man-made lake), and a good portion of Victoria Park itself. Smoking is allowed and practically encouraged but only on the patio out back of course. If you’re lucky while you’re out there, a gang of geese or ducks might swim by and pay you a visit. Beers on tap are usually a selection of Ontario craft brews, as well as something usually from Big Rock as the sole representation of out of province draught beer. Bottle selection is large but macro dominated, however the elusive Molson Stock Ale is available in bottle form, and it’s reputed to be the ONE and ONLY decent beer still made by Molsons, and is also quite rare, even at our local beer stores. Food is usually very good, and the service ranges from pretty crappy if they’re busy to decent and friendly enough. The chef often socializes with you if he’s on a break. Over-all a surprisingly decent place to go for a few beers with friends in what we refer to as the K-hole (aka Kitchener), and probably the best bar in the downtown area. |
